OMG someone in my Office has Pneumonia!!!!

This girl I work with has had a wierd chest pain all week and no other symptoms I just found out she went to the doc today and they said she has pneumonia........I am so scared, How bad is it if I caught it??????????? I am 33 weeks

Pneumonia is usually not infectious - it happens when a bad cold travels to the lungs, and then turns into pneumonia. What you can catch from her is the cold itself, but that doesn't mean it will necessarily turn into pneumonia.

My father was hospitalized with pneumonia a few weeks ago and I visited him, and I was fine.

I know it can be scary, but as long as you feel good that's all that matters. Pneumonia is hardest on the very young and very old and those that delay tx. MANY pregnant women work in th emedical field and have normal pregnancy's so you are just fine. Your own immune system will protect you and all the prenatal vities youtake, but if you do feel sick go get looked at. I just wouldn't fret about it.

I don't think you can 'catch' it -
You can definitely catch the cold germ that started it ........but if god forbid that happens, just keep a very close eye on yourself and see the Dr.

I think it usually developes in pneumonia when you don't treat a respitory infection properly -
