Is it weird to combine a baby shower and a 30th birthday?
My b-day would fall around 28-30weeks, and we were thinking of doing a shower in the same month....
would it be stupid to combine them? I don't know what to do anyways for my 30th...I mean I'll prob do something w/DH but to see family and friends?
Opinions?

I personally wouldn't do it. I would hate for my guests feel like they are obligated to buy 2 gifts. I would do a small gathering for your birthday.

Although it's a neat idea, I wouldn't do it. As the pp mentioned, I wouldn't want my guests to feel obligated to bring two gifts. Maybe whomever is throwing your shower can just send out shower invites, call it a shower, and then have a little cake there and sing happy bday... without telling guests that it is your bday so they don't bring gifts...

i have to agree with the pp. I originally was like - let's do my shower on my birthday too (my girls are looking at March) - but decided that would be unfair and making me seem like i want MORE gifts when that is sooooooooooooooo not me....ya know???

I think it would be ok to do a combined bday/baby shower. You could probably do a cute invitation with a witty line.
Personally I would celebrate separately. I think the whole point of a shower is for other people to throw it for you.

My husband already booked a surprise 30th for me when we found out I was pregnant. I personally had him cancel it. I didn't want to bombard people with parties and obligations in such a short amount of time! We did just have family here though because they insisted we celebrate it somehow.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll keep the two separate, and if I end up doing nothing for my b-day, have a small cake at the same time at the shower but not tell people.
One more question, is it wrong for your own mom to throw you a shower? I'm guessing its going to be one of my aunt's throwing it, but if my mom does it, is it weird?
