Re: Do u tell your family....
There are no secrets in my family so yes. No one on DHs side knows except his second cousins who are sworn to secrecy.

Re: Do u tell your family....
We were very private about it for the first few years but now I think everyone knows. My Mom knew right from the beginning. I couldn't imagine not telling her since I tell her almost everything!

Re: Do u tell your family....
No... I told my sister when I was going to do IVF but didn't give any particulars. I didn't tell my Mom until I was 12 weeks... I didn't want the constant questions & pressure.

Re: Do u tell your family....
My sister knew the entire time from when we first started TTC. I sort of came out a little bit about our struggles when my sister announced her pregnancy about 3 months later. At that point it had been about 6 months for us, and we had just found out it would be difficult to get pregnant. But I didn't tell anyone the particulars.
It was only when we moved to IVF we told our parents. We felt we just needed the extra support at that point. Especially for my husband because he was beginning to feel I think he had noone to talk to about it because he always had to keep me "up"

Everyone and their mother knows
Sometimes I love it because it's never ending support. Sometimes I hate it because everyone asks me 9 billion questions and has a hard time understanding. It can get annoying.

Re: Do u tell your family....
We just told our parents. We always said that we wouldn't tell them unless we ended up doing IVF. We also wanted to tell them in person and we live in CA, so this seemed like a good time. The IVF ended up not working and it was really nice to have their support.

Nope. In two years, they have no clue. And we plan to keep it this way.

Re: Do u tell your family....
Initially, I only told my Mom and sis....they were very understanding. Didn't push the issue and only talked about it when I brought it up. Now a few close cousins and my aunt know too...I only told them because my cousin was also going through issues and I wanted her to know she wasn't alone.

Re: Do u tell your family....
We did not tell them we were TTC until we were diagnosed with IF and we knew we'd have to do IVF.

Re: Do u tell your family....
This was weird for us b/c my Mom actually knew about my PCOS from 8 yrs ago..she was at the surgery with me and found out from my doctor when I was diagnosed. She of course told my dad and sister way back then (before I even knew DH!!) So it was all very public!!

Re: Do u tell your family....
My mom knows, and she told my aunt. My two SILs know, b/c one went through it herself and totally understand. I was pretty up front before when we were first trying and about our dr. visits for tests. Now that we are IUI, I've only told a few people. My friends don't know either, except 2 that I worked with. I may end up telling another b/c we're supposed to visit next weekend and it may be in the middle of our cycle. People have been pretty understanding when I say I don't want to talk about the details. You definitely do see how blessed you are to be surrounded by supportive, wonderful people.

Re: Do u tell your family....
Frankly I was tired of the ??? when you gonna have a baby, are you 2 having sex??? Now we have a lot of support from everybody and everyone is praying for us...
Everybody knows except for my dad. It brings me to tears to just tell him... He has been my rock on everything and always encouraged me to be the best I can be. So I feel like I am dissapointing him. I know he won't feel that way... Geez I put him through hell when I was a teenager and he still loves me! But the feeling that I will be letting him down is what I can't get out of my mind. The last few weeks my grandmother, uncle and aunt (dad's fam) have been in and out of the hospital so I don't want to have him worry about anything else... But I will tell him. I just have to find the right time.

Re: Do u tell your family....
My mom and sister know. In the 5 years DH and I have been married, they never asked about us having a baby. I'm sure they talked among themselves, but they never asked directly. My mom's belief is "When they have something to tell me, they will". I told them the day before Thanksgiving that we did IVF, and they were very supportive!
I also told some close friends who I trust completely.

Re: Do u tell your family....
Really only some of my friends know whats going on. I was planning on telling my parents this fall but my mom got very sick and was in the hospital and I didn't think it was a good time to bring it up. I am sure most people by now know were are having difficulty TTC since they knew we started trying a long time ago....I just can't bring myself to tell them, it breaks my heart just talking about it...

Re: Do u tell your family....
I told my mother she blabbed to other people thinking she was helping me.
I recently told other members of my family what we were going through. It's hard to explain to people who know nothing about IF.
