exercise during pregnancy/not putting on too much weight
i know everyone is different and your doctor will tell you "on average" how much you should gain, i think its around 25-35 lbs right? I'm worried that i'm going to gain a lot of weight, any ladies who are in their last weeks that can recommend anything that helped them, I got a little when i tried to put on black slacks last night that i wore about 2 weeks ago(& looked really good in them) and they barely zipped, i had to lay down on the bed and zip them and i couldnt breathe in them so i took them off i know its early (im only 7 weeks) and my stomach is bloated now, I know that i'm just going to get bigger and bigger and i better get used to it but i just want to see what you ladies did to try to stay fit i have been going to the gym but after i found out i was pregnant i stopped until i had my 1st appt, do you do cardio and aerobics and everything else? my doctor gave me the green light to work out TIA

well I don't think I can be much help since I started having that pants zippering problem before getting pregnant (damn all that eating in the first year of marriage!
I think basic exercise is ok- like walking, and I read somewhere to not start any new exercise routines, but its ok to continue any routines you already had if they're not too strenuous I guess.

Re: exercise during pregnancy/not putting on too much weight
I just had twons 5 weeks ago. Gained 53 lbs. I am breastfeeding and pumping and have 1 lb to lose to get to my pre prego weight. I was not thin to begin with but I wouldn't stress too much and try to breastfeed/pump if you can.

They say as long as you've been exercising prior to you can continue your routine, just at a low impact. But from my experience, it's really not about the exercise, its more about what you eat. I'm 28wks and have gained 30lbs . I still workout 4-5 days a week, but my healthy eating habits kinda went out the window .

Don't worry about gaining weight. If your Dr. gave you the ok to work out then continue to do so. My Dr. said to continue doing what I was doing but just make sure I didn't let my heart rate get too high and not to get overheated and sweat too much. So I took it down a notch. I do cardio 5x a week and very light weights. My body lets me know when i'm over doing it. As far as eating.... I am a VERY self conscious person. ( I see a nutritionist and therapist every week for my issues) I was bloated for the first 10-12 weeks and started to freak out that I already gained weight when I wasn't even eating any differently and in fact eating less because I didn't feel well. It was all bloat and by around 12 weeks my jeans fit normally again. Your body will gain what it needs to for the pregnancy. The baby will take what it needs. I basically eat the same way I did before becoming PG. I added some more fruit/veggies. But I don't take it as a free ride to eat everything in site. I do have a cookie or something when I want one. I am 25 weeks and as of 24 weeks i had gained 11 pounds (that was before Christmas dinner!) I have learned to accept the changes in my body. I am carrying a life inside me that needs to be nourished. I need to be healthy for my baby to be healthy. I will worry about the weight gain after the baby is born. Enjoy being pregnant and don't worry about the weight!

Re: exercise during pregnancy/not putting on too much weight
My dr said as long as your weight and weeks go together you are fine. Im 37 weeks and have gained 31 lbs. EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT. My SIL gained 65lbs with my neice, she had no problems, and lost all of it by the time my niece was 6 months old.
You're going to gain weight. It happens. It stinks but its just part of the game. Its all for the greater good. Dont stress it. Enjoy it.

Your body is going to gain what it needs to gain. You may exercise and eat healthy and still gain 50 lbs. Don't stress about it.
I gained 45 lbs during pregnancy. I gained a lot of it during the 3rd trinester due to swelling. I started swelling at 29 weeks and was eventually placed on bedrest. I didn't exercise at all during the 3rd trinester b/c I had to stay off my feet and keep my legs elevated as much as possible. DS is 2.5 weeks old and I've lost 37 lbs.
