No, because most whiners can't take criticism. So, if I said "people don't like to hear you complaining all the time" then I would be a source of their complaints and the last thing they need is something else to whine about.

Uhm, kind of. I had acquired this "friend" thorough a friend of mine and she was the biggest baby & whiner of all time. I did confront her of other issues that led to her baby issues & after that we never spoke. Which is what I wanted.

As a recovering whiner/complainer ...
It took my DH (back then he was just a boyfirned) to comfront me. I was so glad he was honest with me. He told me to step back and listen to myself. He said "seriously you have nothing positive AT ALL to say! Is there anythinng good in your life?"
He taught me how to speak my feelings properly so even if things weren't going my way, I didn't sound like I was whining and complaining.

I work with one person who really makes me nuts, and I have found that the best thing is to quickly say something sympathetic and then move on to what I need to say/do. I often run meetings and it really, really interferes.
I wish I had the nerve to say, "You know what? Shut up already." or something similar but I don't, and even if I said it nicely it would not make a difference.

do you think you would have taken it as well if it had come from a friend? i ask because i am thinking of confronting someone.
