Re: Has anyone taken a ferry from
No, but my husband quite often takes the ferry from Holyhead to The Isle of Man, surely it must be similar.

I basically wanted an idea of cost, experience etc.

Re: Has anyone taken a ferry from
It was years ago so I can't help you with cost.
From what my sister told me, it's an easy way to go. I'll get more specifics from her and let you know.

My parents did it from mainland to Sicily. Don't remember how much it cost - must not have been exorbitant because they didn't mention it. But they really enjoyed the ride.

I've flown from Milan to Catania (and Rome to Catania)
I know the flight isn't so bad but I was thinking that dh and I would do a road trip of sorts this time.
this year marks 10 years that we made our first solo transatlantic trip to bella Italia..(though he probably doesn't realize it )
we've been to Italy together and separately a bunch of times since then...and I wanted to do a combo of new places we haven't seen, combined with places we've each been to without each other
Ie: Milano to see my Maldini (our second home ) then Naples and Capri (he's been there, I haven't), and Sicily: Messina, Taormina, Siracusa (I've been there, he has not)
or something like that.
We HAVE to go to Milan. anything else is gravy....but we need to be more Rick Steves than Frommer's this trip. we still have a home to furnish.
thanks!!!!!!!

Re: Has anyone taken a ferry from
I took a ferry from Italy to Sciliy
not sure of the cost- I was on a tour- but I am sure it was reasonable
it wasn't a long trip from what I remember - we drove down the coast
and then took the ferry over
