Does anyone have MTHFR?
If so, what do you take for it?
Right now my RE just has me on Folgard and baby aspirin.

What is MTHFR? Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) is the name of a gene that produces an enzyme, also called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase. If a person carries the genetic mutation that inhibits production of this enzyme, it can result in hyperhomocytenemia, which is an elevated level of an enzyme called homocysteine found in blood plasma.

Re: Does anyone have MTHFR?
It's a blood clotting disorder. I think it also causes insuffient folic acid.

Re: Does anyone have MTHFR?
I have the homozygous kind (I got it from both parents - it is more "serious" than the heterozygous kind)
I had to take EXTRA folic acid, a b6 complex (both of these I have to take for life) and I was on Lovenox injections during pregnancy. I was switched to heparin at 37 weeks due to it having a shorter shelf life than lovenox.
let me know if you have any other questions

Re: Does anyone have MTHFR?
I have one copy of the mutation for MTHFR and borderline low Protein S.
I take an additional 400 mcg of folic acid (there is already 400 mcg in my prenatal) and a baby aspirin for the Protein S deficiency.

Re: Does anyone have MTHFR?
I have it. I am compound heterozygous. They actually found it before we conceived. I have been on just Folgard since before conceiving. Then I switched OBs and he put me on baby aspirin too.

I had a tendency toward it. I took extra folic acid and a baby aspirin.
