Baby movement at 29wks

So according to what I read - I should be feeling Chat Icon all day. If not, I should "contact my healthcare provider". Now, I know that my baby has active days and quiet days - so I am not really concerned. But how do you determine when there is "not enough movement" and you should be concerned?? I have a dr appt this afternoon so I am going to ask, but I like to see what you ladies think also.

Re: Baby movement at 29wks

I just posted on someone else thread.

There were days between 27-30 weeks that I would not feel the baby at all. I could also go a day or two without feeling her. Do you know where your placenta is? If it's anterior, you may not feel the baby too often as there is that extra cushion between you and the baby. I did mentioned it at my 30 week appointment and while my Dr. wasn't overly concerned, she had me go for some additional testing to make sure everything was fine with the baby. And it was. She was and is quite active VERY active to be exact. It's just that with my anterior plancenta I wasn't feeling it. But now for the past 3.5 weeks, (I'm 34 weeks now), I feel her all day long.

If you think you haven't felt any movement for awhile and are worried (awhile meaning 2 hours or so), they say to drink some OJ or have something sweet (some fruit maybe) and lay down on your left side. I believe if it's less than 5 kicks in one hour you should contact your Doctor. Chances are the baby will starting bouncing around though. Chat Icon

I don't think about the baby movement all day. I do feel him moving around here and there. If he isn't moving, I just assume he is sleeping. I notice the baby moving most when I am in bed.

I wouldn't worry too much as long as you feel movement at some point in the day. I'd probably worry if it were days and you didn't feel your little Chat Icon .

That's pretty much how I feel. A day has not gone by that I haven't felt her at all, so I just figure everything is fine. I guess I will ask my dr today just to see what she says. I am curious.

Re: Baby movement at 29wks

Yesterday I wasn't feeling Chat Icon much during the day. I drank a glass of soda to try & get him moving, but even that barely got a response. I was nervous, but I just figured he was having a lazy day. Sure enough, from 8pm on he never stopped moving. Today he's been moving all morning. There are definately some days where I feel like he doesn't stop from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep & there are other days where I feel like he's been still almost all day.

I would definately mention it to the doc if you're worried, but I think it's normal to have some days be more active than others.

Re: Baby movement at 29wks

i'm 29 weeks also and i am in the same exact boat as you. i feel him every day but sometimes more than others. i do feel like sometimes i will go a while w/o feeling hiim move at all but then he picks right back up.

if i get worred that i feel like its been too long then i go out of my way to drink juice or soda and sit on the couch with my legs up and i usually feel him move right away. Chat Icon

but u r definately not alone on this one.

Re: Baby movement at 29wks

i'm 33 weeks and i feel the baby at certain points during the day- the baby sleeps you know! so some times he/she is not moving!

try eating some sugar or chocolate or oj to get he/she moving.

i wouldnt worry as long as you feel the baby at some point during the day!

For example, right now my boy is asleep.. he will wake up in a couple of hours..

they are getting ready for when they come out!
