Would you skip an appt at this point?

I am 35 weeks today. I had an appt. All went well, it was rather cut and dry. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I met with a different mid-wife this time as my usual one was at the hospital. Of all the midwives there she does not have the best bedside manner.

Anyway, so I say to her I will be back next week as I already made my appt. She goes, you really could come back at 37 weeks, as nothing much is going on with you. I said well I already made the appt so I will keep it, who knows what could happen. She said ok fine. I thought it was odd as my other midwife said after 35 weeks you come weekly.

I mean it is annoying to schelp over there for a quick appt, but I do love hearing the heartbeat and being reassured that all is well.

Would you skip or not if you were told this?

I wouldn't skip it personally. It would be worth it to me for the peace of mind alone.

weird..... I wouldn't skip it a lot can change in late pregnancy in just a week.

I also see a midwife group and they say the weekly appointments at the end are some of the most important ones...

Something similar just happened to me. I was told by my OB that at 30 weeks I come every 2 weeks and then at 36 weeks I come every week. My OB went out on maternity leave herself just before my 30 wk appt so I'm seeing the other OB's, no biggie. But last week at my 32 wk appt the OB I saw told me I didn't have to come back until 35 wks which would be 3 wks not 2. She said everythiing is fine and to make my growth sono appt for then (wk 35) instead of wk 36 and she'll see me then.....

I questioned it but what was I going to do. Being you already made the appt I don't know what I'd do. I'd probably go. I didn't already have an appt so that's not an issue for me.

But it's frustrating when they change the rules midway so I understand your annoyance at it all.

My OB never does weekly appts. Only bi-weekly towards the end. I don't see the big deal in not going.

I would skip- I am having difficult fitting appts into my teaching work schedule so any chance to not take a sick day off work would be a big help

I mean if you already have the appt..I would just keep it. It's always nice to hear/see the heartbeat.

Up to u. I'm sure it's not a big deal if u decide to skip :)

Re: Would you skip an appt at this point?

i would never skip. at the end i would also want to make sure that i am measuring okay. each week changed a lot for me at the end with DD.

eta - when do they start internals for you?? my office starts them at 36 weeks and does the strep test at 36 weeks.

at my 36 week appointment i had found out i was already 2 cm!!! (not that it means anything but it was still exciting and i am glad i had that visit)

Re: Would you skip an appt at this point?

Definitely not. My doctor is seeing me TWICE a week now. It's extremely frustrating too going and hearing there's "no progress", but it gives me peace of mind, and hope at least.

My office does the strep test at 36-37 weeks. The internal will be done at 37 weeks based on the last conversation I had.

I am going to go to the appt. As you said, you never know what can happen week to week.
