A product RANT and a product RAVE!
Hi all!
Well, I've only been a mommy for 10 days now, but I wanted to share with you a very valuable (and kinda expensive) lesson that I learned.
Like many pregnant women, I registered for one of these:
Well, let me tell you, I thought it was a great tool for breastfeeding at first. I wanted to let you all know that I was WRONG. It was only once my lactation consultant introduced me to the most awesome thing in the world that I realized how utterly useless the Boppy pillow is.
Please allow me to introduce you to the My Brest Friend pillow.
I cannot say enough good things about this pillow. You wear it around your waist while you breastfeed, and it literally gives you lumbar support (REALLY important for me, since breastfeeding was KILLING my back before I found this thing) and holds the entire weight of your baby for you.
I was going to give up on breastfeeding until I found this thing. I didn't know anything about it, even though I saw it at BRU, and I'm hoping I can convince some of you to give it a go instead of the Boppy if you're planning to BF. Sure, the Boppy could be a really good tool for bottle feeding, but for BF, I want to tell as many of you as I can about the Brest Friend.
Hoping I can help someone else out. It has literally SAVED my back and kept me from giving up on breastfeeding!!

Hope this isnt too TMI.. but question.. what position do you feed baby in.. With my dd I always used the football hold.. found it to be the easiest and most comfortable for me bfing wise.. but I did find myself leaning forward the entire time which killed my back.. I used the boppy with dd.. and wonder if this new pillow your talking about would be better for me with this baby. Thanks!

When I was nursing Abby in the NICU I found that product to be very uncomfortable and preferred the Boppy. But to each their own!

at the breast feeding class i attended last week the lactation consultant instructor said the same thing! that boppy's aren't nearly as comfortable as the breast friend...i'm gonna give the boppy a shot, since that's what i registered for/got, but i'm DEF keeping this in mind. thanks for posting about it!

the boppy is great for when then are learning to sit up though so dont get too down on it yet even if its not for the orig purpose!!!

ITA with leslie - for me, the boppy was much more "moldable" and i could easily get it into the position i needed... not so for my breast friend.

I guess everyone is different. My sister HATED the My Breast Friend and only used it as a back up when she was washing the covers for the boppy.
Just proves the point, what works for some people doesn't work for others and vice versa.

I use both-My brest friend for breast feeding and i forgive it its horrible name. I use the boppy for propping my arm for bottle feeding breastmilk, sitting the babies in and doing tummy time

I never used the breast friend, but I LOVE the boppy for nursing, and I also have a bad back, although not as severe as yours, I did not have any problems with it and I loved how it supported DS.

I actually use every single position, and the only one that the brest friend pillow doesn't work on is the side (laying down) position. I use the football hold, usually with the right breast, and all you have to do is swivel the pillow around so that it's on the right side of your body!
I just can't say enough good things about this pillow. As others said, I'm sure I'll use the Boppy for other stuff when DD gets older, but for BF this thing is awesome!
