Re: PCOS question
i have pcos and my dr does not recommend opks. i used them and got positives for a whole week but wasnt ready to O bc of the elevated LH (getting false positives) The CBEFM phamplet inclosed states cycles should be between 21 and 42 days long and conditions such as pcos can adversely affect the performance of the monitor... Unfortunatly i ran out and purchased the CBEFM and could not use it However, i go for monitoring at the re office daily starting around cd 10

Re: PCOS question
None are good, and usually say so in the instruction pamphlet. Your hormones are not normal, and therefore the outcome of the tests is wrong.
That being said, I used internet cheapie OPK's in Jan, 2007 after trying on our own unsuccessfully for awhile.
I was on a PCOS diet and exercising everyday. I used the OPK and the first positive I got, I got pregnant (m/c).
I have not gotten pregnant since, and opks never worked for me again.

Re: PCOS question
It's a crap shoot in all honesty. OPKs work for some women with PCOS and don't work in other women.
I would not bother spending the money though on the montior. I found it useless with the PCOS. For a short while the OPKs did work for me, but it was very short lived and I never got an accurate reading on them after that. I remember once I got excited that I got a surge detected on CD12, I went to my RE the next day and my ovaries were very quiet and all my bloodwork showed exactly the same as it did on CD3.
