HEADACHES!
I didn't have a headache, at all, the first trimester. This past week, I have been getting this MISERABLE & UNBEARABLE headaches. I know that you can take tylenol but I am trying to work through them.
Why do I keep getting them? Is it normal - hormones or something?

Re: HEADACHES!
Me, too! I hate them! Tylenol does nothing. I know caffeine should be used in moderation, but I find siping regular coke helps a little bit.
Feel better- they are killing me.

Re: HEADACHES!
I had similar headaches until the beginning of my 2nd trimester. The only thing that worked for them was Tylenol or a cup of coffee. You could also try a warm compress at the base of your neck.
I hope you feel better soon!

Re: HEADACHES!
i had 4 months of solid dizzyness followed by a month of migraines that lsated usually 5 days on 2 days off. i took extra strength tylenol and lay in a dark room with something over my eyes for pretty much an entire month. they eased up after that, and were more tolerable, but none of the symptoms truly went away. (its a big facotr in why my kids are almost 5 years apart)
sorry you're hurting.,

Re: HEADACHES!
i got headaches a bunch before getting pregnant, but they weren't really any worse during the first trimester. since the end of the first and the beginning of the second though they've been unbearable. they last for anywhere from 3 days to a week and i'm pretty much guarenteed to get very limited sleep (if any) when i have them. i try to avoid the tylenol too, but what seems to help is when i get home from work i take off any constricting clothing, put a heating pad on my neck/base of my skull and relax, then, right before bed i pop a tylenol and take a hot shower and just let it pound in the same place for a while, then (if he's home) dh rubs it until the tylenol kicks in and i jump into bed with a whole bunch of pillows so i can get into a comfortable position (other pregnant women sleep with pillows for their backs, bellies, etc. with me it's for my headaches ). that way i at least get some sleep and it seems a little less severe in the morning. i've also stopped carrying heavy bags and messenger bags/purses that go on only one shoulder. i stick to something that can be carried in my left hand (the side that doesn't hurt) if at all.

Re: HEADACHES!
whenever I got a headache, it was becuase I was dehydrated. I needed to drink about 4 liters a day in my 2nd tri, and a whoppin' 6 liters in my 3rd trimester. If I didn't, I became dehydrated and very very headachy...
so drink a liter before popping a tylenol

Re: HEADACHES!
I've had them on and off throughout my pregnancy, it's been specially bad lately. I swear mine is stress related! I hear dehydration is also a cause. XOXOXO BOTB

Re: HEADACHES!
me too. They have been so bad lately. I too find that a little caffine helps. Also, I put an ice pack or a heat pack on my head. I almost bought one of those heat herb packs from the center stand in the mall today. But I do take tylenol when they are bad.
But today I took 2 regular strength early in the Am and then later that afternoon a nap with the hot pack on my head and by about 4 I took one more tylenol. At that point I should have just had a coke but, I thought maybe since I had a little extra caffine this week that I was "withdrawing" and I wanted to work through it.
HTH's.

Re: HEADACHES!
I definitely agree with a PP that yuo can try drinking more water. When I do not drink enough I get a headache, like today. Also with DD I was getting them daily and my doctor recommended having a cup of tea each day, so I did that for a little while and that seemed to help. feel better

Re: HEADACHES!
I had them also until about 18 weeks-then they disappeared. Sleep is the only thing that helped me. I took a nap every afternoon around 4-6PM(i work from home)

Re: HEADACHES!
I've been getting them as well, I haven't gone to Tylenol yet. I put something cool over my face or I go to sleep.

This is also true...water cures a lot of pregnancy ailments.

Re: HEADACHES!
My headaches where usually from lack of sleep. It took me almost my entire first trimester to figure it out.
At one point, I was taking a nap at my desk during lunch, which helped tremendously.
