A student mentioned it in school and then other kids were talking about that Wendy's can't buy them out because of some zoning thing, they referenced the carvel being closed and renamed something else but said it couldn't be a chain. If it were really true I would think my students would be more up in arms about it since it's their favorite hangout.

Of course, the other side of it is that they wouldn't tell you if they had sold anyway.
I am praying that they didn't sell (and BTW, I called them directly a few weeks ago at 11 a.m., asked for a manager and he told me it wasn't true), but the rumor keeps popping up so I am a little worried. Make that a lot worried
A friend of mine said that they changed the name to Marshall's Ice Cream cuz they were tired of paying Carvel royalties, but it's the same family that owns both places.

Yeah - they own both. my dad said when he worked there All American used the same recipe for their shakes as at Carvel... but they charged less $$
