Star!
We just got a bill for our monthly maint. and it includes a star credit of $52. We have not applied yet, so how did we get this. Also, can someone explain in layman's terms how star works, how much you get, how often you get it, how you apply, etc. Thanks!

Re: Star!
you have to go to your town hall (or city hall in my case) and ask for anapplication. i forgot what you need, but you fill out the paperwork and then they credit you some money! it's something to do with the schools.....and what you get back depends on how much you pay in taxes.

Re: Star!
they are probably charging you at the old owner's rate (I'm guessing you just moved in?). You will need to apply on your own to keep getting the discount going forward like the other poster said.
Its a one-time thing - once you do it you never have to reapply... I don't really understand it either - but I like the credit!

Re: Star!
I don't have a house yet, but we have been looking, and I looked up some of the star info.
I believe that the Star credit is for homeowners who are residing in the house as their primary residence. I think the credit comes off the school tax portion of your taxes and the amount varies, depending on what town you live in - each town passes its own school budget.
