If you lay on your side - it is better blood circulation for your baby

Re: spinoff to sleeping
You shouldn't lie on your back after the 20th week of pg, supposedly the weight of your uterus presses down on major blood vessels and your intestines could cause varicose veins, hemorriods and decrease of blood pressure in you and baby.
Me I always wake up on my back, when it's not comfortable my body lets me know, and I roll on my side. I only sleep with a pillow between my legs.

Re: spinoff to sleeping
I made myself crazy over this until my doctor finally said to sleep any way I am comfortable. He said that idea of sleeping on the left side and not on the back come from a little piece of information that has been blown out of proportion and does nothing more than make us ladies crazy!! Now I start out on my side and don't worry how I end up. I get much better sleep now.

Same here. He said in a few instances there are other issues with the pregnancy it's important to sleep on your side, but if you are having as he calls it a "normal, boring pregnancy" not to worry about it.

My doctor also is so upset with all these things they tell us to scare us. I am due in 8 weeks and I sleep on my back or my right side. I checked with my doctor and he said this is fine!

Re: spinoff to sleeping
I wasn't told anything about sleeping on your back being bad for you. It just turns out that most women seem to find side sleeping more comfortable. I however have always been a back sleeper and at 28 weeks I am still perfectly comfortable lying on my back and even if I start on my side I still wake up on my back.
