Dealing with IF During the Holidays
I find that with the holidays approaching, I am having a harder time dealing with IF
I just feel like the holidays magnify all of the pain of IF. I really thought I would have had a baby or at least be PG by now. It also does not help that we have had a million babies born in our families this year. Ok - not a million - but I have 3 new nieces/nephews this year, 3 more in the extended family, and slew of relatives due early next year!
I am embarassed to say this, but a big part of me feels left out.
Does anyone else feel the same way? Sorry for the pity party and depressing post but I figured that I can't be alone

I know exactly how you feel...all I keep thinking about lately is that I should have a baby and be celebrating his first Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.

Re: Dealing with IF During the Holidays

I feel totally left out, as well. And, if we ever do have a child, we'll be the "old" parents and said child will be the youngest of our friends and family.

Re: Dealing with IF During the Holidays
I completely understand and know how you feel. I feel the same way and I didn't realize how much it bothered me until DH and I started talking that I wasn't in the mood for Christmas this year...and then I realized it was b/c I had been looking forward to having the baby's first Christmas.
for you!

Re: Dealing with IF During the Holidays
I totally understand. I definetely thought it would have happened by now. It will especially be hard this year since someone in my family is giving birth this holiday season. I still don't know how I am going to deal with that one

Re: Dealing with IF During the Holidays
I was never a fan of the holidays even before I knew I had IF issues. Needless to say, I am not too excited about the upcoming season. With all of my family and friends that have children or are pregnant it is just not a happy time for me since I feel like I am way overdue.

Re: Dealing with IF During the Holidays
I'll be honest. I do my 'aunt' thing and spoil my niece and nephews rotten! THAT is what gets me thru this season- that and focusing on how blessed I am to have my DH and both sets of parents and our siblings, etc.... sometimes I get a little down- (watching my niece and nephews around the tree brings me to tears sometimes b/c I want those moments w/ my kids) BUT then I refocus and remember that once I AM a mom, I won't be able to cherish these moments w/ my niece and nephews in the same way b/c our Christmas mornings will be at our own home making our own mommy & daddy memories. No one can figure out why I go TOTALLY overboard and spoil my them rotten- it's b/c I can.

Re: Dealing with IF During the Holidays
I have been feeling the same way lately... the holidays this year are going to be tough!! I thought by this holiday season that I would at least be able to announce to my family some good news... but it doesn't look that way! The hits just keep on coming and I am also having a pity party... Like you were saying - most of my family and friends have babies and young children... It is very difficult! Maybe the new year will bring us all some good luck and some good news!

Re: Dealing with IF During the Holidays
It bothers me when I get all the great Christmas cards with photos of people's kids on them. I still send out plain cards without pictures.
Someday.
My BF celebrated her daughter's first birthday yesterday. I was due 4 weeks before her.
ETA: December 24th will mark 3 years since we started ttc.

Re: Dealing with IF During the Holidays
Although we just started the IF process I always thought I would be able to tell our families we are preggo for a holiday. That is my dream. Once again this is not the year for us. I have cousins who have had kids and they have/going to share their first Christmas with a baby. I know one day I will be able to experience the same. It does make me sad sometimes though...

Re: Dealing with IF During the Holidays
Yes....I'm not looking forward to it unless I have something of our own to celebrate..I know that's not very mature but it is what it is...I always thought I'd be opening presents with my kids on Christmas morning by now. Maybe next year!
