would you take a connecting flight in February?
i am booking a trip to cabo in feb. and flights from JFK and LaGuardia all have at least one stop. Newark has nonstops but the price is higher by about $150-$200 more per ticket. the agent brought to my attention that in the dead of winter, the chances of delays are more likely and if you miss one flight, then you're stuck which I hadn't thought off (the weather factor, that is.) so what would you do? pay the extra $ for the nonstop, knowing that you won't have to worry about not making it to your destination or risk it and take the one stop layover flight?

Re: would you take a connecting flight in February?
depends where the connection is
we connected in Dallas in december and had no issues
we took the first fight of the day out of JFK
I would not connect thru a cold place- like Chicago
also- when we left- we were in the international terminal- even though we were only going to texas first- leave extra time for that- it was crazy

IMO its worth it to just take the direct flight, especially in the winter! I would not want to be stuck in an airport.
I try my hardest to never take a stopover flight.

Re: would you take a connecting flight in February?
I almost always end up with a layover somewhere when I fly cross-country, which I've done dozens of times by now, and I've only had weather-related delays/cancellations twice. Once was when we got fogged in, the other time there were severe thunderstorms - neither time was in the winter. I see it on the news whenever they do close airports due to ice and blizzards and all that, so maybe I've just been lucky, but I'd save the money and take the connecting flight.

Re: would you take a connecting flight in February?
I almost always do connecting flights b/c of the flights that I take. I make sure there is a realistic time in between the flights. Better safe than sorry, IMO.

Re: would you take a connecting flight in February?
It depends on the connecting airport. From my experience: O'Hare, Denver, or Salt Lake City, no. Minneapolis, yes.
