Flying SWA Out of ISP

I haven't flown them since they changed their boarding. Can someone sum it up for me. Also, do they still allow pre-board with children? I think I read MCO doesn't allow that coming back.

With children, you can preboard between groups A and B...both times I checked in prior to arrival and was placed in group B, though I didn't check in exactly 24 hours before so I think you can sometimes be in group A if you check in exactly 24 hours before...when you check in you have a letter-number combo that is your "spot" in line...seemed like a lot of work to me, but I guess it might be working since its still being used!

Re: Flying SWA Out of ISP

You can check in online 24 hours in advance. You are assigned a letter/number combo, which is your spot online. "A" group goes VERY quickly--within 20 mins when I flew to FL. There are I think 50 in that group. I checked in EXACTLY when we could, and we got A19 and A20 I think. SWA frequent/business travelers automatically get good numbers without online checkin. Handicapped passengers check in first.

With a child, and not checked in online, you can preboard after group A and before group B. After group A all of the front seats had at least 1 person in them when we flew.

Re: Flying SWA Out of ISP

Well I'm not concerned about sitting in the front, just concerned about sitting next to my kids. I guess I'll be at my computer exactly 24 hours before.

Re: Flying SWA Out of ISP

Well, sometimes they board families w/children first, sometimes in between A and B.

The first 20, I think, in group A are reserved for the business fliers. I would check in as close to 24 hours as you can, but once we checked in way later and were midway through Group B, and there were still plenty of seats in the back. I do freak out about sitting together though!

Enjoy the new look of the terminal... the seating is AWESOME now :D

They do not board families with children first. I agree with the other posters check in 24 hours in advance and you should get a good number. I am flying home (to ISP) today and flew out on Thursday night. The airport is great!
