Had DR apptmnt, Have Questions
Went to the dr today for my monthly checkup, It was a great appoitnment, I got to hear the heartbeat for the 1st time, and I got some great sonogram pictures!
I thought I was 10 weeks based on my appointment 5 weeks ago when I measured 5 weeks. Today I measured 9w 3d, and my due date changed from 9/18 to 9/22. Is this normal, anyone else have this happen? I know it is not a big difference, but I was just curious.
Also, I asked about going away when I would be about 20 weeks. He said fine but just to not lay out in the sun. I was really suprised, since he is layed back about everything else. I know I have seen pregnant women on the beach all the time in the sun. What was anyone else told?
Thanks!!

Congrats! When I went to Hawaii at 24 weeks the OB told me that pregnant women tend to burn faster than women who are not PG. I used SPF 30 and still got a little burn. Plus, I did get a little overheated if I was not constantly drinking water. Use a ton of sunscreen, trust me you will still get a tan.

This happened to me all the time. They never have me calculated at what I think it is. And I have always measured bigger than what was calculated. They never changed my due date though. They said they check your expected due date at that 8-10 week sonogram, and unless it is more than 2 weeks different from your calculated due date, they don't change it. I'm surprised they changed your date by just 4 days. I really don't consider the "due date" exact because of all this variation. I just look at it as a window. They calculate your due date by taking the first day of your LMP then subtracting 3 months and adding 7 days. That would put me at April 26th. But they gave me April 28th as my EDD. If you take the date of my LMP and go forward 40 weeks, it puts me at April 25th. But as I said, for the last 3-4 months, I've been measuring 2 weeks ahead of what is calculated. I'm about 31 weeks now. We'll see what happens come April.

Re: Had DR apptmnt, Have Questions
When I first went in to the DR, they told me, my due date was Sept. 5th then I guess they did a sonogram and they changed my due date to Sept 3rd.
Jacob came on Sept. 1st...
I wouldn't be that upset, remember it is only an estimate, the baby is going to come when he or she is ready to come out

Yes being off by a few days is normal. They don't usually change your due date though. They never changed mine but my daughter was actually born on the date my first sono predicted her to be born rather than what I calculated. Its not an exact science so don't worry about just a few days.
