sick after hsg

has anyone felt sick after their hsg
i had it done yesterday, almost fainted afterwards but then felt fine and went to work
some time in the middle of the night i started feeling extremely nauseaus,
i have been gagging and coughing a lot but have not actually vomitted,
the paper says if you have a fever and extreme abdominal pain you could have an infection but i wouldn't say i have extreme pain and no fever
i called to drs office and am waiting for the nurse to call me back
just wanted any info from you girls

Oh no! First off I am very sorry you are not feeling well. I am having an HSG tomorrow and my MD gave me an antibiotic to take before and after to prevent infection? Did yours?

My suggestion is to keep trying to get intouch with the MD. While your symptoms may not be exactly what they "warned" about, there might still be cause for concern. Better off knowing than to not.

What anitbiotic are you taking? Is it the doxycycline (sp?)? I will tell you that when I took that for my HSG I was SOOO SICK!! I was vomiting like crazy. I called and they switched it and I was much better. This could be what is causing this.

thanks they didn't give me any antibiotic i was told to take motrin, which i did,
the nurse called me and said that the nauseau is not usually a side effect of an hsg, and if i still feel like this on friday to call back
so i am just treating it as though i have a stomach bug, tea, toast, soup and such

So sorry you're not feeling well!!

I was given doxycyclin (sp?) to take the night before & the morning of. After I took it in the a.m., I was extremely nauseous, but by the time I was done with my procedure, I felt fine. (I also ate like a horse after the procedure, so maybe that helped.)

Did you eat enough afterward? I was supposed to take the antibiotic w/ meals, and didn't, that's what I attributed my nausea to.

Sorry your not feeling well! I took not antibiotics. Just popped an advil an hour before the test. I did feel light headed when I got up from the table. I rested for a few minutes and I was fine. No side effects after.

Mouth insert foot. So after "bragging" last night about no side effects from my antibiotic. I wake up this morning, pop another one b/c my HSG is today, and low and behold... nausea and vomiting. All of course, AFTER i get to work.

We shall see!
