REALLY need help!! Thanks!
so... my parents are away until just before thanksgiving, and we are wathcing their dog. hes a little 7 pound yorkie. hes very cute and well behaved when we're home... the problem is that he has MAJOR MAJOR seperation anxiety!! my parents own a garden center, so he is used to going to work with them, and being with people, and being let out several times a day. DH and i are gone for 8 hours a day, and aren't able to come home and let him out at lunch time or anything. i have tried almost everything!! i keep him in our bathroom during the day so that hes in one area... and everyday i come home and there is poop and pee all over the floor. he pulls my towels down off the towel rack and poops on them, he pulls the door stop thing off of the back of the door, he scratchd up my area rug that was in there.... i've tried putting toys in there with him-thinking he gets bored... didn't help at all. my mom has a small car carrier for him so i put him in there thinking he wouldn't poop or pee in a smaller area... NOPE! still did! its so bad that in the mornings when we start putting our dog in his crate, my parents dog starts FREAKING out, barking, yapping, trying to bite our ankles.... bcause he knows we're getting ready to leave. we have our own dog ( a basset hound) who also has separation anxiety so we've dealt with it before. but he sort of "gets with the program" now he goes in his crate, and is fine in there until we get home. he knows the drill and has adjusted to it. we've had my parents dog for several weeks already and he still doesn't seem to be adjusting to the routine at all!! hiring a dog walker isn't really an option right now either because of $$ PLEASE, PLEASE help!! i'm SICK of cleaning up dog poop after dealing with students all day at work!

Re: REALLY need help!! Thanks!
Give him a bigger space to hang out in. Make sure you put some toys in there and maybe some of your parents clothes. Be sure to block him from carpeted areas too. How would you like to be locked in the bathroom all day? There's nothing to do in there, but..um...go to the bathroom!!! And, as soon as you get home, give him lots o' lovin, regardless of his messes. Then take him out for a walk. Give it a couple days of this new routine and he'll adjust. (Also, make sure he does #1 and #2 before you leave for work, and keep drinking water available throughout the day.) Please post an update!!! Good Luck.

Is there a friendly neighborhood kid (or adult) that just loves dogs that might walk him for you? Especially since it is a temporary situation. I would do anything possible to get him out again after a few hours.

We find with my dog that long walks before leaving him helps.
