The Terd Burglar

Our Shih Tzu likes eating poop. He will eat his own along with our other dogs poop. In fact he will wait for one dog to poop and be right there to snatch it up. We've actually nicknamed him the terd burglar.

I though that he would out grow this but he is now 13 months and hasn't. What should I do?

I have been there (I have a Shih Tzu / Yorkie Mix). Mine stopped 100% around 10 months and I really thought she was going to be doing this forever, but thank god she grew out of it.

They sell chewable pills in the pet store that sometimes do the trick, so try that. Also, I heard crushed pineapple mixed in the food and Tabasco works sometimes also, after the dog goes, drown it with the sauce and let them go over to it (Now in my case, my dog liked hot sauce - LOL)

But, the best way is to make sure after he or she goes, you clean it right away, do not even give the options for them to go near it.

There is a white powder (can't think of the name of it right now because I'm in bed and it's in the kitchen) that you can ask your vet for to give your dog. It's a white powder and it makes the poo less 'tastey' hahaha. At least it will help with his own. It is not strong or gross tasting to them or anything. The only thing is sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't (I got 9 packets for $9 from my vet). Since you have a tiny dog you wouldnt need nearly as much. It's worth a try to get your dog to stop smokin those terd cigarsChat Icon

ugh i know how gross this is... my moms maltese is 10 years old and still does this! she will even go as far as taking some and hiding it so she can go back to it later! Chat Icon I heard it was common especially in small dogs.
