Not much movement.. should I be concerned?

Chat Icon normall is very active, but last night and today I have only felt slight movement, no kicking/punching, stretching.
I've been really tired lately and just came back from a business trip last night, could that effect fetal movement?

At what point should I be concerned and call my doc?

Re: Not much movement.. should I be concerned?

I heard that as long as you feel 10 movements within 2 hours, you should be fine.

It doesn't have to be big movements, just small subtle ones should be fine too. The baby is able to move less as he gets bigger anyway....

Try having something sweet and feel for the movement. Mine never fails to let me know he's in there after I have some caffeine or juice. :D

Re: Not much movement.. should I be concerned?

Have something sweet and try and be still and count the movements. If you can lay on your left side for 20 minutes or so. You should feel enough to calm your nerves. I had to do this on Saturday. I think I just wasn't paying attention to Chat Icon because it only took a few minutes for me to feel some good movement.

If you're really worried call your doctor. That's what they are there for!

You're due right after me...

My Chat Icon movement is still very sporadic, nothing consistent yet. I'm not worried though at this stage, they are still so tiny and it depends how they have themselves positioned. Everyone feels movement and consistency of movement differently. From what I've read the baby is the most active beginning around Week 27.

Maybe you've been too tired to notice? I wouldn't worry unless it's been a long time without feeling your baby. I would have something sweet to drink/eat and see how the baby reacts. If you don't feel your baby after that I'd call the doctor just to let him know so you have peace of mind.

Re: Not much movement.. should I be concerned?

Babies have active and inactive days. As long as you're feeling something, I wouldn't be concerned. From what I've read, the kick counts don't start until you're at least 28 weeks. Before that time, it's typical to have inconsistent movement.

Re: Not much movement.. should I be concerned?

This happened to me two weeks ago-- I was running around like a crazy person, and the movement I had been feeling had decreased. I had still felt something-- but it was not as much. I ended up calling my doc after a few days and I got checked out just to put my mind at ease.

Today again, I am feeling a slight decrease in movement after a big stretch in the middle of the night which I think distrurbed the little alien-- and now I am concerned that he/she is not moving as much as before.

It's so hard to not focus on every little movement-- and be concerned when there is a change. But, in my experience thus far-- there are active days, and more inactive days. So, try not to worry yourself too much. When the worrying does get too much, definitely call your doc.

Re: Not much movement.. should I be concerned?

I have been swamped with work and just exhausted, so I guess baby is feeling my exhaustion.

I laid awake last night worrying why she have not been kicking me as much. Some days she kicks me so hard I'd jump! I do feel her moving around in there, some little flips as well. So I hope she's alright. I know I have to stop worrying so much, just so stressed at work that I am scared it's effecting the baby.

Anyhoo, thanks for your reassuring words

Re: Not much movement.. should I be concerned?

That was a constant concern of mine which brought me to the ER twice and the doctors once. I was fine every time.

They sleep...a lot. DD would have active days and quiet days. I went 6 hours once without feeling anything and tried all the tricks...OJ, laying on my side, poking my belly, chocolate, chewing ice...nothing worked. It is bound to happen. But if you are really scared, call your dr. Chances are everything is fine Chat Icon

Re: Not much movement.. should I be concerned?

I've had very very quiet days as well..I feel like they happen after long days or days you've been moving around a lot...they say the movement of ur body lulls them to sleep,so that could be it...I wouldn't worry!!!!

Re: Not much movement.. should I be concerned?

You know I worry too, becasue my Chat Icon has some pretty active/crazy days and some days where I hardly feel him at all!!!! I am trying not to be paranoid, but sometimes its hard...Just continue to keep and "eye" on it and I would talk to your Dr. to get some reassurance.
