Re: anyone planning on using....

I thought they were only for c-sections. Am I wrong?

I have a maternity support belt and have only worn it once. The velcro is so uncomfortable and the baby does not like it.

No they can be used for vaginal deliveries as well. After you have the baby your ligaments and muscles are all stretched out and there is nothing really supporting them, it can get uncomfortable. The post partum suppost helps bring everythign in and give those muscles a chance to rest and shrink back. It also helps to minimize blaoting and supposedly makes your belly return back to normal faster. Women in Europe have been using them for years....

Re: anyone planning on using....

I BEGGED my doctor for one in the hospital (the hospital calls them abdominal binders) because I had a c-section and it hurt so much unless I was actually putting pressure on the incision, sort of "holding everything in". My doc said that they don't prescribe them or recommend them anymore because they feel that you heal faster and learn to use your own muscles quicker without it. This may just be my doc.

I still wish I had one. In fact, as soon as I left the hospital I went to BRU to get one. They were out of my size and so I couldn't get it. I still wonder if it would have been easier with it.

The hospital gave me one to keep after my c-section....For me , it didnt help get things back to "normal" quicker- but it did give some extra support to my c-section area since those muscles were weak Chat Icon

I am!
My friend used it right after she had her baby and she looked amazing- NOW, it could be a mixture of things helping her look so good- BUT, if there is even an ounce of hope that it can help- I will be using it! Chat Icon
