Re: furniture
Depends on what you are buying and from which company.
Our crib was $900 (and that was on sale ) but totally worth it. It is sturdy as anything and I will be able to re-use confidently with DS#2.
We got a Baby's Dream Generation Next.
For the rest of the furniture we went to Targheeeeey and BRU. The changing table was $85 at BRU and the chifferobe was $75 at Target. The glider was $79.

Re: furniture
I got 2 cribs from JC Oenney-they were $199 each and are p[retty sturdy-they are not fancy but all cribs have to be up to certain safety standards so I was comfrotable with that. the mattresses were about $120 after a 15% discount for buying the cribs there
