Also for Estradiol it says
Abnormally high levels on day 3 may indicate existence of a functional cyst or diminished ovarian reserve
Mine is 173
Ok, so you are being given the same diagnosis I was by my first RE. I have to go back and check my notes to find out what my estradiol was at my first day 3 check but I know it was elevated so he had me do another test - the clomid challenge. This test supposedly tested ovarian reserve. When I researched it, I found out that the test wasn't very conclusive and not all doctors agree on it. But, I did the test anyway and it came back that I had questionable ovarian reserve. I was somewhere between diminished ovarian reserve and normal. My RE became concerned that IVF would not work for us but we went ahead with it anyway.
When I saw my second RE here in NY, I mentioned the diagnosis of the first RE and she said that was ridiculous. She looked at my ovaries and they looked fine. If I had a problem with ovarian reserve, my ovaries would start to look shriviled (sp?). I've now done 3 IVF cycles and I've always responded well. No diminished reserve here.
Try not to worry too much. Go to a different RE. Even if this one is right, his bedside manner is awful.

Re: My levels...Guess the FSH is not the problem
hmmm, ok. I would def. get a 2nd opinion. Also, I wonder if that (not getting AF for a few months) would affect your levels. I don't ovulate on my own, or get AF on my own. Even now while I'm sitting out 3 months my dr is making me take provera to bring on a bleed to regulate my system. I wonder if in a couple of weeks you took provera again to bring on AF if your levels would be altered.

Re: My levels...Guess the FSH is not the problem
I seriously think you need WAY more information. If I were you I would call the Dr. first thing in the AM once you have had time for your head to clear and DEMAND to have the results explained to you in detail. WHY did they say you might not be able to have your own children in the most important question!
I also think you should set up a consult ASAP with another dr.

Re: My levels...Guess the FSH is not the problem
The high E2 can artificiallly lower fsh. If you do not get your period there is definitely something up. What its is...I can't say but I would DEFINITELY find a new Dr

He basically said that my ovaries are aging and are older than I really am and this is why I may not be able to have my own kids I guess my eggs are old.
I was on BCP for 7 years. When I came off I got my period right away. Having OPK readings and then in August everything came to a halt and my period stopped coming.

Re: My levels...Guess the FSH is not the problem
Your estradoil should be below 50. If it is elevated then it is artificially lowering your FSH. However, if you have a cyst that is producing hormones then these levels could be off, which could be your case.
Like everyone said, go to another RE who will give you the time you deserve.
I wish you all the best.

I have felt many times that I have had a cyst or cysts. I have expressed this to every GYN and RE and no one seems to say or do a damn thing

Re: My levels...Guess the FSH is not the problem
Here's my take on it.... Your E2 level on this blood is definitely high, which could signify diminished ovarian reserve - which means that you could have an issue with egg quality. All these are ifs. If this was a CD3 off of Provera, it may not be a great indicator - but it is an indicator nonetheless. I remember you were taking some kind of supplements recommended by your acupuncturist - could have affected your levels also.
You need to get your records from both NSUH and RSNY, take them BOTH to another RE (or more) and get some other opinions.
You could be a prime candidate for a Clomid or Lupron challenge -
BTW, if you had any ovarian cysts - they would show up right away on a sonogram. The Drs. probably said that was not your issue because they didn't see any cysts. Your first RE said he thought you might have PCOS - did he see signs of it on your sono? It is usually signified by lots of "pearlized" follicles in your ovaries.
Whatever it is, you need to find out what's going on before you even figure a course of treatment. Get some other opinions...find out what is really going on. And don't take a short answer...

First RE told me PCOS based solely on an incomplete hormone panel that was done by my GYN not on a sonogram and thats why I left that one. They did their own blood work on me but it was not CD 3. Still never got the results of that.
When I had the CD3 bloods in October I had not yet started acupuncture so I wasn;t on any new supplements just the Provera.
Thanks for your imput...I think I need to send you a copayment for your time too

Do not give up hope. It's one doctor, reading something written on paper. If I stopped at one doctor, who knows where I would've ended up? My first just shrugged their shoulders and said that it looked like I wasn't getting PG ever. I am a big advocate for getting a second, and even third, opinion.

I agree. I have a friend who was in a similar situation, also told something the same as you about her egg quality and is now undergoing IVF with a different RE. Please see a different doctor and do not give up hope!
