Re: Recipe Swap: Beverages

If anyone is interested in a great eggnog recipe here it is

12 large egg yolks
1 1/2 cups superfine sugar
4 cups milk
6 cups well chilled heavy cream
2 cups Bourbon or to taste
1 cup dark rum or to taste
12 large egg whites at room temperature
a pinch of cream of tartar
nutmeg to taste

In a large bowl with an electric mixer beat the yolks until they are pale, beat in the sugar, a little at time, and beat the mixture until it is thick and pale. Beat in the milk and 4 cups of the cream and stir in the bourbon and rum. the eggnog may be prepared to this point and kept covered and chilled overnight.
Just before serving, in a bowl beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until they are frothy, add the cream of tartar, and beat until they hold soft peaks. In a punch bowl fold the whites into the mixture. In another bowl beat the remaining 2 cups of cream until it holds soft peaks and fold into the eggnog. Sprinkle with nutmeg, drink, pass out.

Happy Holidays!!

Re: Recipe Swap: Beverages

Saw this on "Cooking for Real" on Foodnetwork:

8 tea bags
2 plums
1 orange
1 lemon
water
1/2 cut sugar

Fill with cold water a 2 qt pitcher. Cut the plums in half (remove pit) and throw in the pitcher. Cut orange in half and squeeze into pitcher then throw in. Add the 8 tea bags (cut the paper off the stings if you'd like). Give a good stir and let sit for a few hours (best is over night) stirring once in a while. Next day remove the orange and 8 tea bags. Cut lemon in half and squeeze half the lemon in the pitcher and slice the other half for decoration and throw in the pitcher. Add half cut sugar and serve.

Soo refreshing and no brewing b/c it brews overnight.
