Those who have done IVF more than once
Did you POAS before your beta the 2nd time around?
My first time I didn't, plust I started spotting 2 days before the beta. That phone call from the nurse with the negative news just about killed me. This next time around I am thinking of POAS so that I can at least take some of the pressure off of me if it is negative again....I just can't take waiting for the phone call...the anxiety is too much.
Thoughts?

Re: Those who have done IVF more than once
Nope! I did not... although I really, really, really wanted to the night before my beta, but DH wouldn't give up where he hid the HPT, and also hid my keys so I couldn't go to CVS and buy any!
It's such a personal decision. For me, I didn't do purely out of fear of seeing the BFN. In addition, even seeing the BFP wouldn't help lessen the anxiety because then I would be just as nervous as what my beta levels were going to be.

I def. will not be. B/c if it ended up being positive, I honestly think (this is IMO personally w/ what I've gone through) that I would be MORE nervous wondering IF the beta was a healthy one.

I was just thinking about this. I didn't POAS for my 1st IVF or for my FET. This time around I just might. Waiting for that phone call is in my opinion the worst part of the whole process.

Yup...you can tell the results just the way they say "hello". All your hopes down the drain with one word. Although I have to admit I'm not sure if I would react much better to a BFN after POAS. I will probably just go through the torture of the phone call. Just thinking about it now makes me nervous.

Re: Those who have done IVF more than once
I have never POAS before beta day - I guess I'm the opposite kind of- The longer I can hold out hope the better, and then I know for sure what the answer is and theres never the "well what if its too soon etc" ... question...Regardless of what the stick says, my RE has me do the beta anyway, so I knew I'd have to get the phone call anyway, pleasant suprise or not...Also w/ my IUI's I always waited for AF to show w/ out POAS....

Re: Those who have done IVF more than once
I've done IVF 3 times and 3 times I've tested way before. 2 of those three times it was positive but that third time, it was awful. Staring at all those negative tests (yes, I'm an addict so it was many wasted tests and wasted money). Then, I was so depressed while waiting for the official beta. Before I had tested, I was so positive that it worked. I wish I never tested just to stay positive a little longer.
This time, I'm really going to try to wait to test until the night before my beta. I need to know before the beta b/c I would never be able to handle any bad news while at work. Better to get it the night before when I am home.

This is exactly what I am going to try to do. I think the phone call is the worst but I am going to try to wait to POAS as long as possible.

Re: Those who have done IVF more than once
I always, always test the morning of my beta...whether its IVF or IUI.
I look at the color of the test...knowing how far off my beta is. I have a tendency of having a lot of chemicals, so if its the morning of the beta and the test is light, I know I'm having another chemical.
I like to prepare myself day of. I won't test before my beta day, though.

Re: Those who have done IVF more than once
I've done it every way possible...tested four days before beta, day of beta, etc. etc. The real key is that the number are the true tell. Getting a positive HPT sometimes doesn't mean anything.
I got positive HPT's on my first two transfers after losing Rogan and both were chemicals. The third was a negative and I was almost thankful because I didn't want to deal with the whole chemical issue again.
Either way the letdown is just too much...I think I'm going back to just letting the RE tell me the results.

I've done 10 IVF's...I've tested on all of them except for 1...and that one was the worst negative

I POAS'd all three times. I didn't want to be told by someone else it didn't work.

Re: Those who have done IVF more than once
Thank you ladies
Right now I am leaning towards testing - maybe the night before or the morning of (that is, if I don't start spotting )
I didn't do it last time so I guess this time can't hurt..
Whatever way I do it if the outcome is negative it is still a negative and still hurts
