Back from the Oncologist
Nothing I didn't know already, but a lot of CYA with these doctors.
She sees no reason why I can't go ahead with IVF, get pregnant and go on with my plans.
She does want me to get a baseline sono before I start so if I feel something weird whilst pregnant, I can do a sono and have something to compare.
If cycle one doesn't work, she suggested a mammo in between. Just to be uber conservative.
She puts my risk of BC at 1.9% in the next 5 years. The average woman with no history is 0.7% at my age going forward 5 years. Still really low, but more than double the chance than someone who had nothing wrong.
It gets scarier as I get older though. When I'm 90, my risk would be 22.5%. Once I have a kid (God willing) I will go on hormone therapy to help ward off the evil breast cancer that I may never get.
Sorry for the rambling, but who knew something so small could cause so much concern.
Doc wished me luck. Now, UHC has to get on board..they are still not seeing Cornell as in network.
