Cornell accepting insurance? update
Someone on IVFConnections.com thinks so.
I have to call them anyway today, but I'm going to ask.
It may be that you don't have to lay out the money and they submit it and bill you. That's fine too..but how amazing would it be if they were in network?
I'm trying not to get too excited.
I called about the grant too..waiting to hear.
Update: Cornell now accepts Oxford Freedom and UHC. They are in network now.
The office visit was the only thing that doesn't go in network with Dr. Davis.
All else gets submitted and then they bill you after for the rest. I am covered at 90%!!! I will have to pay about $1000 OOP for my first cycle.
Holy crap! This is awesome news!

Re: Cornell accepting insurance?
I go to Cornell and Dr. Goldschlag and Dr. Kang take my insurance (Blue Cross Blue Shield).
All my stuff is covered except the actual fertility treatments but the office visits and the sono's and even the IUI was covered. The only thing I have to lay out is the cost for the meds.

Re: Cornell accepting insurance?
My cousin is a nurse at Columbia and she told me that Cornell accepts certain insurance, though I didn't think they did either. I'm happy at my current RE, but in the future if I decided to switch, I'd be interested to know this as well!

Re: Cornell accepting insurance?
I see Dr. Kang and everything would be covered except the ivf treatment. Iwould have to pay out of pocket and submitt to my insurance myself. I have Empire BCBS-
The insurance paid for bloodwork done at office, ultrasound and office visit.

Re: Cornell accepting insurance?
Certain REs at Cornell always took insurance (office visits, certain procedures)....but soon they will take insurance for the actual IVF treatment (you had to pay up front and then submit claims to your insurance)....now they will bill the insurance directly....
I don't know when this takes in effect but I hope it is soon...

Re: Cornell accepting insurance? update
yo bet, and fom what I know already about the NYS grants, I may qualify for some $$..I don't know how much, but I will take it.
I know I'm all excited here, but I am grateful that I have some coverage. I'm so grateful that I can give this a try. I know so many who don't.

Great news!
About the grant, I was told that if you have any insurance coverage you will not qualify for the grant...they only give it to poeple that have no insurance coverage....since you are covered 90% then you will not get the grant....

Re: Cornell accepting insurance? update
Well that is cool. Just in time for me. I dont' have IVF coverage anyway, so it wouldn't help there, but it will help with my beta on Monday. And if (I can say this) its good then it would cover other b/w and u/s...yeah!!!! I have Oxford Freedom Plan.

Re: Cornell accepting insurance? update
it comes just in time. We will get in for the next series at Cornell. Also, next year we will be OOP more since I will have a new deductible. But the co-insurance will be 90%, not 70%..makes a big difference..a few thousand.
Combined with a little help from NYS grants, it's a no brainer.
Now maybe DH won't be so worried about the money.
If I am blessed enough to have a healthy baby, then I can worry about the money.

oh, ok..that's fine. I wouldn't want to take it if I was taking it from someone else. If I don't fit the guidelines, than that's fine.
However, if I run out of coverage then maybe I will qualify. I will be able to cycle for two times with my coverage more or less. After that is up in the air.
Is there medical criteria? Age?
I know sometimes there is.

Re: Cornell accepting insurance? update
I have Oxford Freedom! I am going to consider this in my options now. What to do, what to do. I go to SIRM tomorrow, I guess I am going to wait until my immunology bw comes back. If I have an immune issue I will go to SIRM if not I may go with Cornell. Susan, so is Dr. Davis not covered at all or just the inital visit?

Re: Cornell accepting insurance? update
I used the grant with my first cycle this year before I started my new job with insurance. With the grant, you cannot have any insurance coverage for IVF. Also, you are only allowed one failed cycle. If you have 2, you are not eligible for the grant anymore. HTH
But, great news about Cornell accepting your insurance!!!

According to the front desk person (who handles the insurance) everything will get submitted to insurance. The office visit is out of network because Dr. Davis doesn't accept insurance.
So everything else will be in network and at least for me paid at 90% of r&c. Now, since they are participating, I'm assuming that they will now accept the contracted rates for the insurance company. I found out there were a few items on their list that were above R&C but not a lot.

Re: Cornell accepting insurance? update
I called UHC..they still say not in network, but admit that since it just started Oct 1 that it may not show in the sytems yet.
I hope it really is the case.
