Do I need to give my job my last day?
Or can I work until I feel like it, and then say its too much for me..not sure if I have to tell them legally when I want my last day to be before Maternity leave...Obviously it's the better thing to do, but at this point I really don't know when I would want it to be...I'm 30 weeks today...

Re: Do I need to give my job my last day?
I told my office that I plan to work until delivery or until my Dr. suggests I no longer work (just in case). I know they weren't specific dates at all, but I don't know what the future holds.
No one seemed to have a problem with it though

Re: Do I need to give my job my last day?
My place my coworker had her dh call while she was in L&D saying she wont be in b/c she was giving birth.
Depends on what the job wants i guess.

I don't think you need to give a specific day. Most people don't know exactly when they're going out. I plan on working until the end as long as there are no complications. I didn't give them a specific date. It all depends on when decides to make his or her appearance.

You really can't know when you're going out until you go out. Even if you say you're going out on a particular day you could go into labor early. If you've picked a date to go out I would tell them otherwise just make sure you're keeping them in the loop about how everything is progressing. Unfortunately babies are born when THEY want to be born.

Discuss it with your employer, actually you would think they would have came to you and asked what your plans are.
Here I am 5 days overdue and still at work.

Re: Do I need to give my job my last day?
I plan on working until the end of this month (36 weeks), I have a long commute. I have to have my doctor fill in my last day on my paper work so I am discussing it with him this week. I can't wait to be home to relax a little

See thats my problem, the commute is killing me I'm 30 weeks today and the exhuastion is coming back with a vengenace, by the time I'm in the office I feel like a truck has hit me and I'm ready to go off on everyone and anyone, not to mention my boss has been super on my azz lately, I can't help but think they are trying to push me out, part of that is hormones talking and part of that is reality hitting me...soooI was hoping to stop working roughly two weeks before my due date, if I can even make it that far....

Re: Do I need to give my job my last day?
Check with your human resources department. Some companies want people to begin their leave 2 weeks before their scheduled due date and others let people work up until they have the baby. Some places I've worked in the past were not comfortable with people working past their due date out of fear of liability if something were to go wrong.
I work in a private school and am due on January 14th. When I reach my last month, I will have to bring in a note from my doctor stating what duties I can or cannot perform. My replacement will start on January 6th (after the holiday break) regardless of whether I've had the baby or not, because we need to maintain proper staff coverage for the children. If I haven't had the baby yet, I'll come in part time if my doc gives the go ahead.
