can anyone help with injectibles information?

Hi...I still don't know for sure, but I am pretty certain this last round of clomid/iui's failed again.

I think I am going to start injectibles now. Can anyone tell me about them?
When would I start the injections? How long do I do them for? If there are too many eggs, does the cycle convert to IVF or is it cancelled?

Sorry so many questions! Any info you can offer is appreciated! I am just so disappointed that it is coming to thisChat Icon

Re: can anyone help with injectibles information?

The injectables can last anywhere from 8 to 15 days...each person has a different protocol. Some do just night, some do morning and night and there is any range of drugs you might be doing.
You usually start around CD3 or so.
It would depend on your Dr. in regards to converting to IVF. When I went to RSNY they would just cancel the cycle if I had too many, which happened twice.
Some places will convert to IVF, but you would have to get consent from your RE beforehand.
It is rare for you to produce too many eggs, though. Most RE's will base your protocol on IUI and give you only enough drugs to get a couple eggs. You will be monitored much more closely though...which means more office visits.

Re: can anyone help with injectibles information?

I much preferred injectables over clomid - the symptoms were always so much less.

The injections usually start on CD3 and for me, always lasted about a week. One injection each day, with monitoring about every 3 days. Once the follicles reached maturity, I was given a shot of HCG, and the next day I came in for an IUI and the day after that.

If your are being well monitored it is unlikely you'll overproduce, and for your first cycle your RE will probably be fairly conservative in starting out. I always produced between 3-4 eggs for my IUI cycles.

I'll be starting them this cycle too!

I have my injections class on Thursday.

If you have any questions, let me know and I will ask them on Thursday! I already have a notepad with a few of my own questions, but I'll be happy to ask yours too! Chat Icon

Thank you so much! I will keep that in mind! I am so glad you'll be doing it too (well, not that I am happy you have to do it)! What RE do you use? I am with LI IVF. I wonder if they do a class also???

Thanks again, I will keep you posted!

I will be starting my second cycle of injectibles in a couple of days. Last cycles they started me on the smalled possible dose, and adjusted it when I had no response. I did 15 days of shots, plus the trigger. I think I had 3 mature eggs. Let me know if you have any questions!Chat Icon

Oh- and I am at li ivf also!
