What the F is with JCrews prices?
Are they kidding? Why has it all gotten sooo expensive?? And I don't want to hear that the cost of fabric and labor has gone up.. I think that's bs.. most of their items are made in factories in China for almost nothing...
 Cause I love soo much stuff in their new catalog but REFUSE to spend the money!

I never buy anything there at regular price, it's outrageous. I wait for the clearance sale and when they send you that extra 20% off clearance email  Or go to the outlet....just can't justify it otherwise!

I think they got expensive because they ARE using finer fabrics, wool and cashmere from mills in Italy, fine leather, etc.
AND...
they are trying to change their image from the cotton and wool rollneck sweaters, chinos and barn jackets of the late 80's and 90's. They are trying to be competitive with more upscale fashion and they are only making a limited qty of products.
When I called once to find out if there was a backorder list for a particular item, they said no. It was sold out. period. They said they realize that women don't want to be walking down the street and walking into another woman wearing the same thing, so they decided to make less and make things seem more original.

Totally agree. And while I do agree that they have been trying to expand to finer fabrics and there is some great design elements in their newest catalog, that doesn't explain why even their graphic tees are $$$$

I used to shop there all the time-- but, the things that I love now are just too much when I can get something similar for less. I am not afraid to spend money, but some of their stuff is really sticker-shockworthy.

When I worked I got most of my clothes there, that was about 6 years ago...I thought they were reasonable. Anyway yesterday I went to J CREW in WW mall ( I have not been in a JCREW in years my mother got a stupid plain sweat jacket for $60.00. I thought that was a a lot. Everything did seem a bit pricey!
