So, I asked the OB about my weight gain....

To give a little history first......

1. I had gastric bypass in 2007, which was extremely successful, so I have a huge fear of getting heavy again....

2. I had 3 rounds of IVF and am finally pregnant with TWINS

3. I gained about 15 lbs before I even got pregant due to OHSS

So, I had my 12 week appt yesterday (and everything was fine -- babies are both doing great!). I gained 7 lbs since my appt. last month and I asked the OB about it.....I asked if it was too much and he said it was "enthusiastic". Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thankfully, he told me not to worry too much....with twins I'll gain morethan a singleton pregnancy....he's more concerned with the fact that I'm high risk to come down on me about weight (I think I love him)

I just thought the "enthusiastic" comment was so funny....when he asked about my symptoms, he asked if my teeth itched (I have to admit, it took me awhile to catch onto that one! Chat Icon ). He's a funny guy -- love it when they are like that!! Don't you hate docs who are such stiffs?

you'll be fine! I think it's a matter of working closely with a dietician, your OB, and possibly other experts to keep a careful balance during pregnancy...

you should really get in contact with leslie (goldi0218).... she had the same procedure and worked things out with her physicians so she made sure she got all the appropriate nutrition and stayed super healthy during her pregnancy.

She had a dr communication system efficiently up and running throughout her pregnancy.....

I've spoken to Leslie alot in the past about our surgeries, I know she's done great with the pregnancy Chat Icon......I routinely have bloodwork done as a rule to make sure I'm not deficient in anything (even before I got PG). My problem is not getting the proper foods in, it's that I EAT EVERYTHING THAT ISN'T NAILED DOWN!! I don't think 7lbs is bad at all!! Esp since you are carrying twins.

I like the enthusiastic comment. A few years ago, before I lost a lot of weight, I was weighed by a nurse who said "nothing wrong with a healthy appetite." She was awesome.
