How can they tell if the baby is breech?
My doctor doesn't do any sonos after the Level II unless medically necessary, so I was wondering how would he know if the baby was breech or not...I feel like she's literally kicking my azz ( see my post from last week) so now I'm worried she's breech. I know its way too early, but just wondering how the dr would know without a sono...

Re: How can they tell if the baby is breech?
I think there comes a point when the doctor can feel the baby's head and determine it...I know that my baby is breech right now because I can feel the kicking distinctly and a sono this weekend confirmed it...

Re: How can they tell if the baby is breech?
I think they can tell at an internal. I had a growth sono at 34weeks and they saw she was breach. Otherwise they said at 36weeks was the internal where they could FEEL the head. Since I was breach, they didnt do an internal.
Ask your doc. Good Luck.
PS: my Arianna only rolled up top. Never felt her kick below. Just well above my belly button. They again she ALWAYS had her hands by her head so it was mostly her elbowing me instead of really 'kicking' me. haha

We found out with a sono, but I could always feel his head right on my ribcage and I had the kicks in my butt!!

The doc will eventually be able to tell by feeling your belly, and if not, might make it necessary to do a sono.

Re: How can they tell if the baby is breech?
I asked my OB at an appt and he just felt my lower belly for the head...
but frankly, there is no 'breeched' position until the baby drops at roughly 35-36 weeks.... they're just floating around, so don't worry too much at this point

This is how my midwife figured DS was breech at 26 weeks.
But he flipped by 27 weeks and stayed that way for the remainder of the pregnancy so it wasn't a big deal.
