So up until a few months ago, we all hated the chunky heel
and now almost every thread I've seen on here lately has boots w/chunky heels.
it occurred to me how much influence designers have on our taste in fashion.
case in point 
eta: so this thread is 2 yrs old, but still the same 'theme'

neither do I. the only thing I did like about them (in the 90's) was that the thick heel made the shoe more supportive and comfortable.

i hate chunky heels.
in my thread, i "sort" of could stand the heels on the right but the ones on he left- UGH remind me of old lady shoes
the heavy stacked heel DOES work with certain boots- ill admit that. but on pumps, no thanks. it just adds mure CHUNK to my foot and leg which imho is not flattering at all unless you are a twig that needs to add weight ot oyur legs

It works much better on boots, than on pumps, but they are so comfy!
I don't like skinny skinny heels on boots--they look like they are going to break. I like the wide, flat heel.

I agree...chunky heels on shoes 
on a "certain" boot tolerable

once in a while I will see a pair I like, but in general they remind me of high school so I don't like them!
This is so true though, I always told DH I HATED purple, and don't you know my handbag for the fall is dark purple (DH mocked me for it, but I told him I meant light purple )

I don't care how 'in' they are - they are god awful and remind me of HS !! Besides, they make my legs look fat .......THAT can't be good regardless of fashion !!!

I love my pointed toed shoes/boots and narrow heels
That being said, for casual family thing (like walking through a fair, Oysterfest type thing in the Fall), I think they are great.
I always see them as being worn with Jeans and a big sweater for walks in the Fall.
