Good News!!!
We have a leak behind our toilet!!!
Sounds crazy, I know! But there is major damp damage in our bathroom and we thought it had to do with all sorts of things. In the end it turns out it's just a really bad leak - every time you flush, about a pint of water slowly leaks out! Such a relief because it's so easy to fix, but so sad that someone let it go for so long - all of the moldings were rotten!

Yes. Here are some pics. We painted, but some of the damp is still bleeding through. We'll take care of that eventually, but DH ripped moldings off and we ripped the floor up... Image Attachment(s):

Oh wow that is too bad.....Are the walls wet? Is it sheet rock? You may need to replace the sheetrock with Green Board. If the sheet rock is damp it needs to come off and be replaced.

No, it's a brick building, so the walls are plastered. We're going to start an extension in a few months anyway, so we'll have the whole thing replastered. Just need to try to dry it out in the meantime.

Re: Good News!!!
Is there any mold on the walls? If there is, I believe you can use bleach to clean it off. I am not sure, but I think that is what I heard Scott

Re: Good News!!!
I've cleaned it with everything under the sun!!! It's not mold, it's the salts from the water resurfacing through the paint. It's not too bad. Actually the wall is a little dirty in the second pic from us pulling up the floor tiles after we painted (we did things a little backwards). Definitely liveable for a few months.
