NPR: Chicken Pox

My husband has never had chicken pox. Our friends kids both have it right now and we spent all last weekend with them before they really broke out. Is he okay?

I never had chicken pox myself and at my wedding my nephew came down with it. I went to my primary care doctor to first see if I had immunity to it. Turns out that I didn't have immunity to it so I had to get the shot. I would call my primary care and see what they say, just to get some piece of mind.

have you ever had the chicken pox? I never did, and I got the shot, but it didn't cause me to be immune. I was exposed to it during my first pregnancy (that's how I found out I wasn't immune) and I had to go to the hospital to get a shot (not the normal chicken pox shot). And if you are not immune and pregnant, I was told that you shouldn't be around anyone with the chicken pox (obviously) but you need to be careful with people who just got the shot, because it could cause them to break out with chicken pox. This is why my son could not get the shot, because I am pregnant.
