Moving the location of litter box
Can anyone offer advice -
Should I move it slowly or keep him in the room with the new box location for a while?
We want to move it from the basement to a bathroom...

When I moved it, I just brought it into the basement and brought the kitty down and put him in there. He never had a problem.
If you are nervous, you could keep one set up in the original spot and put one in the new spot, until you are certain he is using the new one. Then remove the one from the original spot so he only uses the new one.

My litterbox is in the laundry room in the basement. Last year we had to do some major construction in the basement, so I moved the litter box to our upstairs bathroom for about a month. I just showed the cat where it was and we never had a problem.

we've moved it alot (home construction). I just bring her to whereever the new location is, drop her in it and she figures it out. She's 11.

We moved ours from the main floor hallway to the basement.
Our two cats found it no problem. We didn't even show them.
