A Benefit for Walter’s Children

On May 7th 2008 Walter Cannon was tragically killed on his Harley Davidson motorcycle as he drove home from work. The accident was described by the police as a typical motorcycle accident. He was hit by a woman with no insurance. The woman in the car never saw Walter as she turned left in front of him. Walter hit her passenger door and went up over her car and died from massive head trauma.

Words cannot describe how painful this loss has been to my family. Walter left behind his wife, Jennifer, and two young children, Josie and Wyatt, ages 5 and 7. He left behind so many other people that loved him including his sister, Debra Cannon-Cirella, brother Bill Cannon, and his parents Susan and Walter Cannon. Our family has been overcome with grief due to this tragedy.

Walter was 44 years old and graduated from Berner HS in 1981. He was a dedicated and hard working Local 3 Electrician who went to church with his children every Sunday at St. Raymond’s. He was a wonderful, caring husband, and father. On Saturday May 10th, 2008, his son Wyatt made his First Holy Communion without his father. Living on Long Island without Walter’s income presents a financial burden for wife and children. I pray that God will help his family.

Our family is hosting a benefit for Walter’s children on September 20th, 2008 at Tobay Beach Marina in Massapequa. We are asking you to please consider making a donation and/or donating a gift certificate to be raffled off the day of the event.
