How obvious is movement?

I am 19 weeks today-- and I can't say I have DEFINITIVELY felt the baby, although I felt some weird stuff that COULD be the baby. I am not sitting there saying to DH-- oooh, I just felt the baby. I just kinda ignore it to an extent.

It seems that when people post on here-- they are so sure that it's the baby. I just don't get how everyone is so sure.... the slight movements in the beginning seem to be so subtle.

In the beginning when it would happen I blew it off as gas. (no pun intended). NOW well now I can def tell. I think it feels like a guitar being played that strumming vibrating feeling. KWIM. The more he kicks the moreit feels like jabs of sorts.

Re: How obvious is movement?

It's not obvious at the beginning. Once I was finally sure that I was feeling the baby, I realized that I felt her at least a week earlier but didn't know what I had been feeling.

Re: How obvious is movement?

I just don't get that some girls are like 15 weeks and are so sure they felt the baby-- is it just wishful thinking, or is everyone totally different, OR am I just totally not in touch with my body??

I have been feeling on and off some of the things that can be the initial movements for a couple of weeks now-- but, still it's not strong enough for me to be sure... it could be gas, which my stomach is always doing something, a muscle twitch since some of the feelings are similar to things I have felt in other parts of my body-- among a variety of other things.

Re: How obvious is movement?

The first few times I felt something I wasn't sure whether it was the baby b/c I was only 15+ weeks. By 16 weeks, I knew I felt the baby. It definitely wasn't gas and it happened several times over a span of a few minutes. It felt like butterflies or vibrations. It was always on my right side.

The baby has been pretty active since then. I felt flutters at several points throughout the day, especially when I was sitting or lying down. The flutters/vibrations/thumping got stronger over the next several weeks.

When I first felt kicks (21 weeks), I wasn't sure whether they were actual kicks. The baby kept kicking my bladder. It was a very weird feeling. Over the next few days, I started getting pretty strong jabs in the middle of my stomach. I began to feel the baby from the outside and saw my stomach move from the kicks.

Re: How obvious is movement?

Ive started feeling movement since 12W 3D....and it was obvious.... I fellt thumps for about 40 minutes......

Now at 16 W 5 D.....There are times when I feel fluttering...when I'm lying on my back.....but when I'm hunched over and hte baby is squished it is more pronounced.

Last week the littl ebugger was on my right side kicking the same darn spot for 45 minutes straight....it actually started to hurt... I can' t imagine what this kid is going to do to me in a few months....Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think everyone is different and how soon you feel the baby depends on a number of things. If the placenta is in front of the baby, it acts as a cushion and you won't feel the movement.

I JUST started feeling the baby for sure two days ago. I am 21 weeks.

My sister who has had 3 babies, says each one was different, depending on how the baby is positioned. She says outward movements are easier to detect.

Re: How obvious is movement?

I am 29 weeks and it was only a few weeks ago that I was absolutely sure - so don't feel bad! Now I'm perplexed how girls know when they are being elbowed or kick, etc - I have no idea how baby is positioned or what I'm feeling...just that it is def baby at this point. My placenta is also in the front of my belly so I know some of the movement is being absorbed, but I still feel a little out of touch with what's going on.

I'm 16w6d today and have def been feeling the baby for the past week and a half...I believe I have felt it before then, but not as strong...yesterday it was confirmed at my sonogram that where I have been getting all the kicks is exactlly where the babys feet are...it is more prononced when I am sitting and a little hunched over as well...I think the poor baby is getting squished and telling me to let upChat Icon ...But don't worry..everyone is different and you will feel your little peanut soon enough I promise!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: How obvious is movement?

For weeks I wasn't sure what I was feeling. At about 18 weeks I was sure it was baby because it couldn't be anything else. It feels like pushing from the inside. Now I can feel it and see it from the outside too.
I don't know how to describe it, it really was all of a sudden one day it became obvious and I couldn't mistake it for gas or anything else.

ETA: I feel one baby A LOT more than the other - so I think how they are positioned has a lot to do with when or how often you feel them. I feel Chat Icon all day long, but Chat Icon I feel mostly when I am laying down.

Re: How obvious is movement?

Everyone is different, so I personally wouldn't go by what others are feeling when they are at my stage.
I am 16w5d today and I have been feeling flutter and pops for the past week or so. At first I just thought it was gas, but for the past week the flutter/pops are very frequent and very strong during each evening at around the same time. I am still not 100% certain it's the baby, but I also don't think my gas reflex is this consistent Chat Icon

ETA: I sometimes feel a tightening sensation before the pops. Also most of the time I feel movement when I am laying down or bending over (I guess the baby doesn't like to be squished!). Most of the time the flutter/pops are on the right side of my stomach.

I felt a flutter or 2 around 19 and 20 weeks but nothing that I chalked up to definately being the baby. I didn't start feeling really unquestionable movement until around 22-23 weeks. Then, he was punching, kicking, and rolling all around up until today!
