Need help!

Hi!

I have such a dilemma, I need any help I can get. I left my company in August to finish up my student teaching. I am now jobless and substitute teaching on the side. I have been applying to many elementary schools and whatever leave replacement positions I can find almost everyday and nothing has come my way. I am getting a little discouraged. I do realize it is the middle of the school year and teaching jobs are tough to come by. I also realize I haven't given it much time too. Ok, after last week ( I subbed 3 days) I was having second thoughts about the whole career change thing. I was going to give myself until Sept. to see if I could find a full time teaching position or leave replacement, but my old company just called me. They are willing to give me 13K more than what I was orig. making there to go back. Right now, the $$$ is sounding so good to me (being that I have been unemployed since Sept.) But on another note, I am giving up on something that I worked so hard on (becoming a teacher).

I don't know what kind of advice you guys can give me, but I just needed to vent a little...I was so happy to get that call from my old job, but than got kind of sad..I have no clue what to do!Chat Icon

Re: Need help!

The number on thing I've learned in the busines world is that you have to look out for yourself. September is a long way from now so take the job get your money issues out of the way and see what happens. You then have the choice of leiseurely looking for a teaching job at that time and holding out for a really great district whereas if you didn't take the job you'd be a lot more desparate when Sept. comes. You could also consider being a tutor on the side to keep your "teaching skills" fresh. Good LuckChat Icon
