how important is the middle name?
i don't know if that's a rhetorical question or not but i figured i'd get some input from you ladies.
DH and i are totally 100% set on the first name, thanks goodness. the middle name is another story. since the baby is being named after both of our paternal grandfathers, we have been set on the initials since day one. so that kind of limits our choices. also, the middle name has to "go" with the first name.
well we have about three names that we are going back and forth between. i LOVE one, and like the other two a lot.
DH LOVES one of the two that i just like. even though he won't fully admit it, i think he really hates the one that i love.
in the end, no one is going to call the baby by his middle name... right?
what would you do?

Re: how important is the middle name?
Its all a personal choice in my opinion. I do use my dds middle name occasionaly but in real life her friends wont. I love middle names but thats just me. If you dont want your dc to have one they dont need to have one.

Re: how important is the middle name?
I generally only say Hayley Paige when she did something wrong or if after calling her 2 or 3 times she won't answer me
Once in a while my cousins will call me by my 1st and middle name

Re: how important is the middle name?
Both DH and I grew up in families that use middles names as a formality and sometimes to address each other (not too often though). I personally love middle names. We're using the middle name as a opp to utilize some family names that neither one of us would want as their first name.

Say them all outloud in an angry voice like you are calling after him if he did a bad thing. Then see which one sounds the most fluid.

Re: how important is the middle name?
I have two middle names, both from my grandmothers. No one really knew them or ever used them. I think on my wedding invitation and on diplomas are the only time they were used when I was older. My DD will have my favorite Aunt's name as her middle name, whether it flows or not [we are undecided on the first name.] I just want to honor my Aunt and the amazing relationship that we've had my entire life. So, to me, the middle name is important in my DD's case, but in general, I just think it's nice to have a second [or third] name.

Re: how important is the middle name?
I was thinking also.. what i like about middle names is alot of kids have the same first name, so in school if they have a middle name helps seperate the 2 or 3..

I always say to myself "how is it going to sound and look on their wedding invitation?"

Re: how important is the middle name?
honestly I dont think it's a big deal. I only heard mine when I was in trouble.
We are only giving the baby one because its my deceased grandfathers name.

Re: how important is the middle name?
I personally don't see the big deal or need for a 'middle' name - I have one, but I never use it .........nor does anyone else in my family ..........(well, except Gina Marie ........but that comes out all in one syllable )
I wouldn't stress over it too much - Just make sure he won't have embarrassing initials !! -
DH wants to use Andrew as a middle name, but then a boy's initials would be S A K .........can you just HEAR the abuse from the baseball field???

Re: how important is the middle name?
I think a middle name is somewhat important. It won't be used every day but we have some family members that will definitely refer to baby P*star by his first and middle name. We've settled on a middle name that has meaning to both of us. While I like it, I don't love it.

Re: how important is the middle name?
We had a tough time with a middle name too. So instead of picking a name I liked our loved, we just decided to use DH's middle name....more for sentimental purposes.

Re: how important is the middle name?
It really depends on you.My sons name is Robert Peter and I only say his middle name when hes bad but my DD name is Kaley(cali)brooke and I call her by her full name almost everytime I call her . My son is already calling this baby girl by her full name when he talks to my belly. so if you think you will be using it make sure you like it if not then dont worry about it I hate my middle name and no one even knows it..

Re: how important is the middle name?
i love the potential of a middle name...its like getting to choose two of your very favorites...except in my case where it was decided from the start that DH was getting the middle name Shea (as in the stadium) whether it was a boy or girl....
thankfully i dont dislike the name at all...but i probably wouldnt hve chosen it if it were up to me only... it goes beautifully with our secret first name :)
