No, I don't think you are supposed to Chat Icon Supposed to just take it easy.

eta: i wanted to mention that I agree with MrsRbk (we go to the same RE) - walking around the neighborhood should be fine. But I am just really over-cautious.

Re: exercising

I've never heard of that.
I've always been told that low impact is okay...walking, cycling, low weight weightlifting, yoga...
Running and high impact sports are definitely out.
I would definitely double check with your RE...who are you going to anyway?

Re: exercising

My RE didn't say anything about no excercise. During my first IVF cycle, even during my stim cycle, I did moderate excercise. I went walking everynight after work in my neighborhood. It was a pretty moderate workout as I live in a very steep hilly area. It actually helped in keeping the bloat away from the stims.

I don't know if I'd do spinning as it's pretty high intensity...but doing a stationary bike would be fine.
I would still check with the RE directly as opposed to what the nurse says.

Re: exercising

I was always told walking and yoga were good. Haven't gone to IVF class yet at Cornell. Not going until Sept 10th. I would not do spinning. Your ovaries will be very large and full and you don't want to risk them twisting (not that I ever heard of this happening).

Also, while stimming drink lots of water and gatorade (if you can stand it). Keep you hydrated.

Re: exercising

thank you!! i read a few times on here about gatorade but i wasn't sure if it was as good as water.

at the orientation the nurse said to do NOTHING because there's a chance that ovaries can twist.

my RE hasn't said anything to me about it.

Re: exercising

I would take it easy while you are stimming- just low impact stuff like yoga or walking. Your ovaries are much bigger whether you feel them or not and you don't want to risk torsion. I wouldn't do too much during the 2ww either.

Re: exercising

so for cardio, i can walk on a treadmill. do you think i can do any of the machines at the gym? any ab work?

i know this may sound crazy but its what i do to de-stress and wanting to keep the bloat and my stress level down, i definitely want to try and keep calm.

Re: exercising

I work out a pretty good amount-cardio/weights and do yoga and palates about 4-5 times per week.

My doctor said that I can do low impact cardio, the yoga and palates as long as I keep my heart rate lower than 140 BPM.

To be honest, when I stimmed on the low course of follistim I was SO uncomfortable for about three weeks the only thing I could do was take brisk walks. Ugh so sore! I doubt I am going to want to do anything during an IVF cycle.

Yeah, I am a huge (or was) exercise fanatic and in the last year I seem to be obsessing over IF and not my size. So, when I was told I can't do cardio, I stopped cold turkey. And cannot get back to it. I mean I still work out at least once a week but its a struggle and not the way I used to. And my arms are turning into mush.

A friend of mine was told no treadmill walking b/c you bounce too much. Just thought I'd mention it. Every RE has different opinions. Its just that IVF is so expensive and so invasive into your life, that you don't want to screw up the cycle because you had to overdue it with the cardio. That was my thinking anyway.

I don't remember what they said about situps, but I know with Yoga I was told no inversions (should stand/headstands).

Like PP said, you will be feeling swollen and you will not want to do too much.

On a flip side, on my first IVF cycle I ate so healthy I actually lost 5lbs. Since gained it back and a little bit more. But, I wish I could do it all the time...LOL
