Re: Sono Schedule?
wow, that's actually a little late!
my first scheduled dr's appt was week 7... had a transvag sono. 2nd was week 11. later in the week I had the ultrascreen.
then we didn't have a sono until the level II (19.5 weeks).
the final growth sono will be next week (36.5 weeks)

Re: Sono Schedule?
Since I went through IVF, I had a sono every week from week 5-8 when they discharged me.
My OB office does not do Sono's. My first OB appointment was at week 10 and did not get a sono.
I got my 12 week ultrascreen then I will have my Level II and that's it.

Re: Sono Schedule?
Ok .........I thought it was kind of late, but I guess they know what they're doing over there .........
What's the difference between the sono and the ultrascreen?
Sorry, I'm sure that's a stupid question, but I'm SO bad w/ this medical stuff no matter how much I try to read up and know WTH is going on !!

Re: Sono Schedule?
ultrascreen is a screening test that is done usually around week 12. It's a sono that measures the fluid behind the baby's neck as well as the neck folds for markers of Downs. The other part is a finger prick test for blood that will also measure your risk for trisonmy and Downs.

Re: Sono Schedule?
I had my first sono at 9 weeks, second at 13w, 6d (ultrascreen), level II at 18 weeks. Next one is scheduled for 32 weeks - growth sono.
The ultrascreen is a sono coupled with bloodwork that screens for potential genetic abnormalities like down syndrome.

Re: Sono Schedule?
I didn't have my first sono until 10 weeks either. I thought it was late but it was really because I had a perfectly normal, boring pregnancy so there was no need to do it sooner.
My OB only does 3 sonos - 10 weeks, the level II at around 18 weeks and then another at 22 weeks.
And as far as I'm aware, the difference between a sonogram and the ultrascreen to you as a patient is nil. I think they're all sonograms but the ultrascreen specifies what they're looking for. I think...

Re: Sono Schedule?
Depends on your dr. and your insurance. Mine does one every visit. So far that's been: 6 weeks 8 weeks 12 weeks
I have my next one next week at my 16 wk appt and so on every 4 weeks after.

Re: Sono Schedule?
my 1st sono was at 10 weeks as well
then I had my 1st level II at 16w, 6days (due to a blood disorder)
I had a 2nd level II at 21 weeks (as they could not get the heart measurements they needed at the 1st level II)
Then I had a growth sono at 37w, 2days due to my belly measuring 40 weeks at my 35 week appt
