How big are your calves? Boot related/ UPDATED
I know I harp on this 
I just lost 45 pounds so I *thought* maybe I could find some nice designer tall boots that fit...
So I ordered a bunch of Charles David and not one will ziop more than a few inches 
I measured my calves and they are 14 inches
what is the norm?

I just bought 2 pair at MJM that fit no problem!!!!!!
One of them is even Andrew Geller...which is cool b/c my grandparents bought his house in Long Beach and I practically grew up there and even have a piece of his furniture

I feel your pain. I ordered at least 20 boots last year and had to return them all until I discovered Zappos.com. They give the measurements of the calf and it was my saving grace. After all these years I can finally wear leather knee high boots instead of the stretch material.

mine are 14 too and I don't usually have a tremendous problem with most zip ups.
though if my calf is longer or shorter than yours I guess it could make a difference...

I am too cheap for Charles David

it's crazy b/c I don't think 14 inches is big...especially if you have any type of muscle tone!

14 is not big! Many boots on Zappos are that size. I am bigger than that, and had to get "wide calf" boots. I forget the exact measurement. 16 inches I think? It definitley helsp to know the size if you are buying on-line.

have no idea what the norm is but it is also nearly impossible for me to find nice quality boots to fit snugly on my 12.5" calves. all are too big.  
i bought these recently. calf circumference is 14" and they are lace up. LOVE the style not to mention they were 40% off.  that they will fit.

my calf is 14" at it's widest point
your post made me wonder so I measured them. now I know something about myself that I didn't 5 minutes ago
I have never had a problem zipping up tall boots. the ones you initially got must have been very narrow!
