people asking if you are preggers
I am going back to work next week and I would like to try to keep this pregnancy a secret until mid-october. I did gain a few pounds and have the start of a small bump ( i am 11 weeks and 4days). I have some very rude and nosey coworkers who have been asking me for years if I am pregnant. In wich I never could understand because I never had a belly so I am not sure where they were getting the idea from. Anyway, if I am asked do I just lie and say "no"? I feel weird lying about it but I am just not ready to come out to the work world with it. If anyone else had this experience what did you do????
Thank you!!

Sorry for crashing...
I would say, "Why? Do I look pregnant?" In kind of an insulted tone.
Then they'll feel embarrassed thinking they were wrong

Re: people asking if you are preggers
One of the secretaries asked if I was PG after my Dr. called saying "they had the results of my bloodwork". I told her no and she kept at it - "are you sure, they said something about bloodwork" I was fuming, but I kept my cool and said no and walked away.
I had another co-worker ask if I was PG because "you've been married for 6 months, ya know." I was about 10 weeks at the time but wasn't ready to tell anyone so I told him no. He goes on to ask me why, are you having problems conceiving? Like I am going to talk about my fertility with some random co-worker I rarely talk to anyway!

sounds like a good plan. but even if you do say "no" its not really a lie.. its a small white tale.. your just not ready to come out and thats okay.. its your body and have the right to tell people when you want too not when they want to know.

People have some set of ba!!s. Although your Dr's office probably shouldn't have said that

i have tried this in the past. One time coworker even asked me if I was while we were at a bar drinking. HELLO ETA this was a year ago I was not PG.
I am afraid I would say this and they would say yes because I do have a stomach now and I will be wearing less form fitting clothes then I normally wear.

Just make sure you make the face and tone in your voice so they dont say yes... they would have to have a big set of balls to say yes.

That's what I thought too! I called my Dr.'s office and told them to call me on my cell phone form then on.

Re: people asking if you are preggers
I had someone ask me when i was about 11 or 12 weeks at work if i was pregnant. It was a few days before my NT sono, so i wasn't telling anyone yet. Mind you, this was also a person who i am NOT close with or share any personal information with. I stood straight faced and said NO. He (Yes, HE) became very embarrassed and fumbled over his words to apologize and say that i just seemed "happier" lately and he thought that might be why. Riiiiiight...so apparently happier is now a code word for fatter around here. I figured, if he had the ballz to actually ask me something so forward, i was well within my right to make him feel like a giant jack@ss. If you aren't comfortable sharing that information, then don't. Just because people feel they can intrude into your business doesn't mean you have to let them.

Re: people asking if you are preggers
That is really rude of them to ask you! I would just say, don't you think I'd tell you! I went through a similar situation where a male coworker started a rumor that I was pregnant before I came out to everyone, so I had to tell everyone earlier than I wanted to but it felt so good once it was out in the open, there was no more concealing it.

Re: people asking if you are preggers
I used to say that the food at the cafeteria was getting fattening. Or I hit the cafeteria too often.
I did not tell anyone in that office I was PG but my closest co-workers and boss and told them not to say anything.
And with bunch of women (about 40+ in total in our group) it was quite funny. I could see them look at my belly and wonder.... keeping wondering.
One time, one asks me why I did not say anything. I told her she was right I should have intercomed it for the 1000 people in the building.

Seriously?!?!?! He had balls!!! I would have asked a random question about his sex life....where do people get off asking questions like that??

Re: people asking if you are preggers
I am a very very bad liar - but at work, none of my friends would flat out ASK (I dodn't associate with people that rude) so for the nosey ones, I just lie to their faces ........"No" And if they press I just say "When I'm pregnant, you will know when I am ready to tell you" .........End of story - I don't care if I sound like a beyotch

Re: people asking if you are preggers
Or you can really throw them off and say "I dont know yet.......I'm not due for my period for another week".
Or you can say........you just got over it.
This way you aren't exactly saying "yes" or "no".

this kept happening to me with a particular co-worker. She didn't ask but she would look me up and down and make this "all knowing" face at me. It was very annoying.
She's now the one who tells me at least once a week EVERY week how big/huge I am. Last week she also told me I was waddling.

Re: people asking if you are preggers
someone mentioned it to me when I was 8 weeks along, but I was nowhere near ready to come out about it, so I fibbed and said no. They totally understood a month and a half later when they found out I was.
