** NYC TEACHERS ... how do I ...
get my husband added to my insurance?
He is a teacher on long island and we were married in December ... however, we want to use mine (my benefits are better)
Do you think I missed the deadline???

i woudl talk to your rep. when you back to school. it shouldn't be a problem.
DH started the year late last year (October) and added me to his no problem. i am a teacher too, but the benefits are free in the city, so i went on his.

I did it through my payroll secretary... she gave me the forms, I filled them out and gave them right back to her... very easy!
For the UFT dental/optical, just go to the UFT website and you can get the forms on there and mail them in along with your marriage certificate.

When I changed insurance plans, they wouldn't let me do it until January. But it's probably different if you're only adding a spouse. Talk to your payroll secretary
