ovulation and surge help

my doc today suggested i use an ovulation kit and then wednesday maybe get bloodwork done to see if i am surging. what does that mean?

i am day 7 in my cycle. when do i start the ovulation tests?

Basically there is a surge in LH production by your body somewhere around 36 hours before you ovulate.

If you aren't sure you should start by at least CD9.

so day 9 start doing the ovulation kit? am i suppose to tell them when i am ovulating?

You probably need to call them when you detect surge on the OPK's. Now they don't usually work for me so I usually have to have b/w to detect my LH surge. Oh and they are much cheaper at Wal-mart.

the best one i've found as far as the kits go is the Target brand - i like them the best and the price is the lowest by far.

The literature inside the test will tell you based on your cycle when to test. But the average is to start at CD9 or 10.

The best time to test is between 2:00 and 8:00 pm...because the hormone you are testing for BUILDS in your system during the day...so the later the better...

This is my last month of ttc without fertility treatment....so who knows what'll happen at our appointment next month...

ETA: as someone else said - you will ovulate 24-36 hours AFTER you get the positive test...
