Dr. Hanauer

Since she comes so highly recommended, I'm leaning towards using her office. I just have a couple of questions:

How long is the average wait time to get an appointment?

How long do you wait to see her?

Do you actually see her or are there other drs/assistants that you see instead?

Thanks for all of your help,
Kelly

I have waited anywhere from 20 mins to 2 hrs in the office. It takes about one month to 1 1/2 months to get an appt. w/ her. She will see her and nurse practioner (who are great as well.)

Since she comes so highly recommended, I'm leaning towards using her office. I just have a couple of questions:

How long is the average wait time to get an appointment? She won't see you until you are 8 weeks along, but you will meet with a nurse practitioner initially to do bloodwork and take your family history (I did this at 5 weeks). Once you've met with Dr. H, I've never had a problem making my monthly appts at the previous appt. Even now with going every two weeks, I usually can get the time I want. You can always schedule a few appts ahead of time if you need specific times.

How long do you wait to see her? It definitely varies. I've never waited more than 40 minutes to see her, but i know girls on here that have waited longer. I guess it might depend on the time you schedule your appts. Mine are usually at lunch time.

Do you actually see her or are there other drs/assistants that you see instead? As I said before, your initial appt will most likely be with the nurse practitioner, but all other appts will be with Dr. H (at least mine have been). She does your initial sonogram to confirm the pregnancy. The other sonos like the ultrascreen at 12 weeks and the Level 2 at 20 weeks are done in the office, but by sono techs from Madonna.

Thanks for all of your help,
Kelly

Re: Dr. Hanauer

When I was pg I didn't get in to actually see her until my 16wk appt (and I had several before then b/c of a previous M/C). I had to see Dolisi (which I didn't mind - I like him).

I made all my appts in advance so I got a good slot but it still varied from 10-minutes waiting to over an hour.

She's worth the wait!

I've waited as short as 5 minute and as long as an hour. I've met with both her and the nurse practitioners. I love Daniela! I schedule my appts. ahead of time so that I can see her at the time I want/need.

ITA with all of this. Your available appointment time will also help determine how quickly you can get an appointment and possible wait time. Also remember she is an OB and leaves to deliver babies. Chat Icon Sometimes they will have an NP take over some of her appointments, and others they will just have a wait. She is incredibly patient and understanding with all of her patients, which is also part of why she runs late.

Dr. Dolisi is also great, and I believe Dr M is also coming on. She is fab (she assisted Dr Dolisi with my c-section last time) and is very attentive as well. All of the NPs are great and if they have any questions they go directly to the Dr.

Also, last week when I pulled a clutz move and fell, the office got me in that day so I did not have to go the the ER, and I waited 10 min.

Re: Dr. Hanauer

I am trying out their practice due to the rave reviews I've read about her.

I have not had the pleasure of meeting her yet (will meet her at my 12 week appointment). You need to book her 1-2 months in advance. I'm sure if you had an emergency, you could prob see her (which is why my appointment had been bumped previously).

The wait is pretty long. Although I only had to wait 30 minutes to go in for my appointment yesterday. I had to wait almost 2 hours for my last appointment.

My biggest peeve is trying to call them. They put you on hold forever - 15-30 min. Often they put you on hold for 30 minutes just to tell you that they will call you back. Often the line is busy. It can be very frustrating. Chat Icon

I am still trying to decide if I want to stick with them or not. I felt I needed to at least meet with Dr. Hanauer to make that decision.

That is surprising to me. I know her phone can be busy a lot (it is actually a problem in the whole building...something with the phone installation), but I have never been put on hold that long, and I call poor Louise constantly. Chat Icon

I would definitely let them know your concerns.

However, that office is VERY busy. Each time I've waited between 30mins to 1 hrChat Icon
They also make you wait a while on the phone too, which drives me nuts. I've mentioned before that the reception staff is something less desirable... BUT like everyone else mentioned Dr. H is worth the wait. I also saw Kerry, the nurse practitioner couple of times in the beginning, I really like her too!
There is an older lady nurse that takes your blood, she is just the sweetest ever Chat Icon

I second Kerry, the nurse practioner. She is very sweet. I like her a lot.

I've also spoken to Dr. Dolisi in passing for about a minute. He also seems very friendly and kind.
